Craig, that's not what I'm saying. See post #268.

Tire + Rim = Wheel :)
Wheels vs Rims

"It may seem obvious, but a wheel is comprised of a hub, spokes and rim. Sometimes these components will be one piece, sometimes two or three. The hub is the center portion of the wheel and is what attaches the wheel to the suspension. The spokes radiate out from the hub and attach to the rim. The rim is the outer part of the wheel that holds the tire."

Guess we were both wrong.

In my opinion TireRack doesn't know what they are talking about. I'll stick with what I believe. I may be wrong but it that works for me. When I go into a tire store I ask for rims, not wheels or tires. They know what I mean. They say, "Do you want tires mounted on those rims?" "Yes, and mount the wheels on my car."

Edit: This is wrong. See post #286.

A wheel is not a wheel without a rim, but a rim is a rim without the rest of the wheel.
Wheels get bent and tires go flat.
There is no name for the two combined.
