Well they want the "Production model" to look it's best, hence the ELGIN dash.
I hope they get bad reviews on the dash and go back to the "Common Cents" approach.

I really don't believe that they will change it for the first generation vehicles .... if it is mentioned by some reporter, they will respond that its a tribute to Paul's father and let it go at that .... the Elgin has been one constant throughout the company's development .... I was told by a member of the tour team that they have done their research and the design of a dash is seldom a lone disqualifier in a person's vehicle choice .... on Facebook they have responded, if you don't want the Elgin, find another new vehicle for $6,800 that gets 84 mpg and has a high safety rating .... in short, take it or leave it .... I don't like the looks of the Elgin and will change it via the aftermarket if possible .... so in my case they are right, I'm one of those they are convinced will buy an Elio even though I don't like the Elgin

Heck I'd have been happy with the Metro dash. At least THAT worked unlike the one in my Sunfire.

Coolant and Fuel are the only two gauges that work.Tach is pegged out and speedometer is useless. No way in hell I am doing 110 mph :D when I can feel 55 mph.

I smell aftermarket opportunity! :-)
Yup, that has been one of my primary pieces to make as soon as I get mine to experiment with.
It will be a plug and play unit also.
To get the capitol for it, the other piece I'm doing is custom interior panels, any material you want and I'm looking at doing some like the Camaro interior with the mood lighting.
