EM has mentioned on FaceBook, that 'later this year'... they will have a "See & Drive" Tour (after more P4 Prototypes with the IAV engine are produced). I would not expect it until early/late Fall, but SOONER than waiting for the Production models to appear at the Elio Stores.

And in this posters case that "See and Drive" event would have to be in the Tampa Bay area.

Hi gang,

I've seen on the EM Facebook page where EM will reply in a post about "... we are planning a series of ride and drive events for our reservation holders around the start time of production".

I'm guessing they will be at the plant in Shreveport... Anybody have any information on such events?

I read somewhere that they will be at the dealer that you pick the car up at. You may be picking your car up at the same store as me. Aurora CO. I am assuning this is where you pick your options to be upsold. I am still not sure what transmission I am going to get so hopefully I can drive both cars. Am leaning toward MT. My kids will not be driving this car unless they get better with a stick which is fine by me. I am worried this will be a dangerous vehicle as well. I am fine driving it myself but hesitant for my kis to drive it!

Hi CJ, yes, Aurora would probably be closest for me. I see, so maybe they will have a handful of vehicles at the stores... and we can show up and drive them in advance. Speaking of Aurora, I see where the tour will be at the Taste of Colorado in Denver on Labor Day weekend.

What are your concerns CJ about the vehicle being dangerous?

I would 'think' that as some of the "E" Series vehicles finish their 'testing' (the ones NOT being crash tested).... they will be able to enter the "ELIO TOUR", and extra time can be scheduled at the different locations, especially for those that already have RESERVATIONS. These "E" vehicles can also be DRIVEN between locations (instead of 'trailered'). Seems like the most 'cost effective' and convenient for the reservation holders. "Elio Stores", may not even be OPENED until after production begins, and they would need to have 120 vehicles (standard and AMT) to cover them all.

Thanks RogWild, are you talking about the July-August timeframe of 2015? That would be close-to-production, and this is different from the tour... I'm referring to the idea of letting reservationists ride in and/or drive the vehicle. On the tour, there's no driving nor riding. Plus, if the tour allowed reservationists to drive/ride in the vehicle, you'd have to have several cars on the tour. Plus you'd have frustrated folks wanting to see the vehicle. :)

A 1200 pound 3 wheeled composite vehicle with one door for egress will not be as safe a regular car in my opinion (not that I care for myself). Airbags/roll cage /ABS etc. will hopefully alleviate this risk. It will not protect as well as my 4000 pound Crown Vic or my wife's Subaru for that matter. My younger son will have to wear a helmet as the law stands today. As a 50 something year old long time driver I can assume those risks but I will not be letting my teenage sons drive it for a while. I hope these cars are truely engineered for safety as stated as it is a risk to the long term survival of the company due to liability concerns.

I hope my fears are unfounded but we won't have the final car to look at for probably another year minimum. It is a risk in my mind among several other risks that make this car speculative. I am all in despite these risks but they still exist.

I will be at the Taste of Colorado. If we get our t-shirts by then I will be waering mine!
