The point is she ended up paying $800 more for the car than the selling price due to added fees. That will happen when paying for the $6800 Elio..
What the heck are the added fees on a used car? I could only assume sales tax (and it was sales taxed once as a new car), licensing and title transfer fees........all which have nothing to do with the price of vehicle......but rather associated costs and fees that Elio has no control over.
$800 fees on a $6400 used car sounds excessive by the way.

Trust has to be earned. With the production dates being pushed back several times I can see why people are a little worried. After all this isn't the 40's and 50's where a persons word was a better than any contract today.
My feeling is I think Paul should spend some time at the GM plant, photos and video of what he plans on doing and what has been done so far if anything. Right now as I can tell the GM plant is just like it was when GM moved out. I could be wrong but I don't think so.
A couple years ago myself and a lot of my friends were HOT to get on the wagon with the Elio but now they are about like me, WHEN I see them on the streets and can drive 30 miles to the GM plant and pick up one then it will be real. Pray next September ('15) isn't another disappointment again.

I am pretty sure some of use will be disappointed...Those of us that don't have reservations! By then, people will already have most of the next years production reserved...at the "new higher price." I think that I will be kicking myself, too. Wishing I had reserved another one!

That's what I thought!

I was pointing out that there are fees, which Elio has no control over, which are going to increase the selling price considerably. Your state will get as much as it can.

In addition to the ones you mentioned there is property tax in Utah, 6.85% sales tax, etc.

That simply shows their lack of trust in Paul Elio and EM. I find that truly sad. :( Z

When it comes to vehicles, it takes years for people to trust in the companies that build them, and it takes decades to get over a bad rep...not saying that Elio has a bad rep, or even will have, I'm just saying that's the way it is...

If that statement were true, you wouln't see any GM cars on the road.

I just can't for the life of me, commit to a non-refundable deposit on a new vehicle type from a new company. What's to say the company won't run into some type of brick wall they can't get around and they end up folding before they even get started? What's to say there aren't going to be many, many problems with this new vehicle type with a new un-time tested engine and driveline components? That's just the vehicle...with so many people already on the waiting list, it's going to take years for the company to be able to meet demand for just those people...think about how long someone is going to have to wait to get one if they're not on the list. The only way they get around this is if they have an automotive industry type of assembly line set up to build these things. Like many others, this vehicle is very intriguing to me, but I can't help but to think about how this company will get around and/or over the typical hurdles that all new businesses have to deal with.

Then......the Elio is NOT for you !!! :rolleyes:
