The press release does say "All of the information provided by the SkyzMatic system will be transmitted directly to an iPad or iPhone. All of the remote features will be transmitted with an iPhone or iWatch." That leaves this Android user out.

I asked about Android and received a reply dated "Wed, 07 Jan 2015 23:24:53 +0000" saying "The option will be Android compatible!"

Paul Elio demonstrating the Skyz system:

Thanks for the video. It is maybe $500-$600 neat, not neat enough for $2,000 with an extra $240/yr.

And geez, the Elgin seems to look worse every time I see it. Have we confirmed that EM has an option to replace this? If so, I'd expect it is labor cost only.

it has been confirmed that there is not going to be an option to the Elgin .... if you watch the video in your post, toward the end you can see and hear Paul's comments about the Elgin ... the way he gushes over it so fondly, it is gonna be there

Yup, this is the way it is. In some ways it is nice to see Paul discuss the Elgin gauges as it does give us a bit more personal insight into this project.

However for those who must have another gauge cluster I am sure there will be options in the aftermarket as we were also told all the connections are industry standard so it should be relatively easy to produce aftermarket alternatives.

I could go with either, actually. As more details about the Infinite Skyz system comes out, I get more and more intrigued with it. :)
I agree this is getting difficult.
My purpose for this vehicle is a low cost, high mileage commuter. Tacking on a $2000 'nice to have', is not on option. At least when I first saw and heard about it. The more I see it, it sure sounds pretty cool! Remote start, cameras, nav.

Still, based upon the original purpose (and the one in which I was able to convince my wife), I will most likely pass.

(sigh)
