Even if you are upside down or laying to one side the windows should still work so I doubt you would have to break the glass however having a glass breaker just in case does not hurt. Another possible option would be to exit via the rear hatch.
OK, goofyone, you and I need to sit down and have a little bit of a talk about the facts of life. Now you, being a man, may have very small hips and butt. I am a woman and that is definitely not the case. No way am I going to fit through that rear hatch unless it is bigger than the gun toten' dude claims! LOL :-) Z

Very good thought, in a front ender the battery could be damaged as well rendering the windows inoperable, so why take a chance? Although I don't know where one would securely store a glass breaker. I sure don't it flying willy nilly around the inside of the vehicle in the event of a collision. My head ain't pretty but I don't want to expose it to any extra danger.

That is some Funny S*@T. LOL. I just visualized myself trying to be Birthed out of the back hatch while the radio is repeatedly playing the lyric for a Jack In the Box! If that was the only exit I would be better off carrying a half gallon of butter with me over the window hammer. Lol. Thanks for the visual Zelio! You seem like a Very nice person I would love to meet some day.
Sounds good to me. I'm one of those crazy people who like to take Amtrak because I get to meet lots of interesting people. LOL You know lard or coconut oil might be less messy than butter. LOL :-) Z

LOL.. I wish I had a smaller butt and less of beer belly.
Today I am about 30 pounds heavier than my in shape Army days but I am fairly certain I could still scramble out the rear hatch if I had no other choice. I can however understand that some others may not have that option. :)

Well maybe Elio will be like the SLS AMG coupe, it has has charges in the doors. In the event of a rollover the gullwing doors cannot be opened they will be blown off.

It's good to be prepared, but some accidents you can't plan for. Be a defensive driver. Doesn't mean you can always avoid a crash, but maybe you can lessen the impact.
