advice appreciated .... per UPS tracking both the camera and memory card should be here tomorrow .... my demands on a dash camera are pretty simple .... I want a dependable unit and don't need high-def quality

its price has really been reduced (see link above) so I ordered one ... after doing a bunch of reading, I found that it works best with a 4 or 6 speed SD mini card.... the current generation cards are speed 10 and the best place I could find a 32 GB 4 speed card is on Amazon .... both should be here day after tomorrow .... if this works out, Christmas gifts for the kids comes to mind ..
Maybe I have misunderstood what you are saying about SD cards but the higher the number the faster the memory. The best speed for use in a GoPro is 10.

Some of the dashcams recommend the lower speeds due to stability issues. I did much indepth research before I got mine, and many of the issues with the cams had to due with the card and not the cam itself. I am running a #10 in mine with no issues though. Some people report better performance with the #5.
our Black Box G1W Original Dashboard Dash Cam ordered from Amazon at this link and SanDisk 32GB MicroSDHC High Speed Class 4 Card with MicroSD to SD Adapter ordered at this link arrived late yesterday and .... this afternoon, with the G1 dash cam rolling, we drove about 30 miles .... when we got back home I hooked it up to the computer and must say I was impressed with the quality of the pictures .... while it works well, I still haven't figured out how to watch the replay on the camera and I'm sure its capable of doing things that I have no clue how to make it happen .... we have to drive to RDU airport tomorrow to pick up our daughter and I plan to run it the entire time ... that should give it a really good test .... am very happy with the idea of ordering one for each of out 3 kids for Christmas
You'll find that while it's interesting at first to watch all your video's of driving somewhere; it becomes an afterthought (boring) once you've had it for a while.

10-4 .... if the 12v plug is only live when the switch is on, it will turn on and off automatically .... if the plug is live all the time, you have to turn it off manually ....ours is live ....I'm used to turning our GPS off and on, will have to add the camera to that routine

This instructions and the programming controls are extremely poor, I try not to mess with mine once it is set up. I pull the card about once every 4-5 months just to clean it up again, unless there is a video I want to save. It is not the greatest, but for the price I will gladly live with it and even get more.As they same, its a good Value.
it has 3 settings for levels of resolution .... it comes set at the mid level .... it also comes set for loop recording .... we plan to make a 600 mile drive on Wednesday, will be interesting to see how it does
