one thing is for sure, if part of your return home involves I-95, you will know all there is to know about your Elio's suspension .. :D
If possible I'll try to take my son along, I figure there's a good learning opportunity to see a bit of the country. And if the ODB works with my wifi reader, he's already reasonably good for keeping an eye on engine performance while I'm focused on traffic, etc.

outstanding .... you have several options as to paths to follow .... as one who travels, please make planning your trip, so as to include some good experiences for you and your son, so as to make it part of the fun

Has anyone checked the transportation possibilities to Shreveport? Does is have commercial airline service? Where I live we lost Amtrak, then we lost the Greyhound bus line, and long ago we lost the once a day airplane service. The only car rental service is two-way only. If you rent it there, you have to bring it back. The only one-way way out of town now if you don't drive is hitch-hike, bicycle or walk. There is a public transportation service for local and for out-of-town medical appointments but that's all. If there was a way to attach a bike rack for the drive back, I might consider a long cross-country bike ride. Maybe I could buy a cheap junker of a car, drive it to Shreveport, sell it to a used car dealer, and drive the brand spankin' new Elio home.

American Eagle flies into Shreveport Regional Airport. Less than 8 miles from the plant.

I just checked American Airlines ... cheapest one-way fare HSV to SHV is $378. Kinda costly for me. Seems I remember talk of maybe EM helping arrange cheap transportation and/or lodging for new Elio owner factory pickups. I was planning to drive over with my brother who used to be a trucker. Or, possibly carpool with some other new Elio'ers.
