All tow companies are using "flat bed" type trucks for towing now. "Slings" and "dollies" are mostly a thing of the past.

That's a shame. The sling cradle was very adaptable! I used to be able to pull a parked car right off the curb without touching the one on each end!

As another Ohioan I just got all in and I'm looking forward to my number. Perhaps wee could get some of us together and share in shipping lots of Elio to one location in Ohio to pick them up. Just an idea.

Not quite true; one of the most popular types of tow trucks are the wheel-lift trucks. It has a main bar that's hydraulic (in and out/up and down plus it pivots the cross bar at the end of it) the cross bar reaches across both front tires, and there is another bar behind that form a cradle for both front wheels.
A good tow truck driver can pull a car that's parked between two others with it; a lot of repo's happen like that.

These are more popular because they are a lot less expensive than a flat bed.
You can even mount one of these on a flat bed and haul multiple cars.

I'm not so lucky.

Brand new Fiero was the first new vehicle I bought and it blew a fuse link half way through WI in the middle of the night on holiday weekend.

Also rode my first new 1999 Victory on a group ride to the factory and only made it about 1/2 way there when the sprocket came off.
Pontiac... I've bought two and hated them both. I liked the Fiero and wanted one for a while. The GranAms both had engine issues and I no longer wonder why GM folded the brand.

We're going down to Shreveport in the truck. We'll tow one home on a flatbed trailer and drive the other one. Depending on the time of year, Spring or Summer 2017, it's still an easy 2 day drive across Texas even if the weather is bad.
Where are you? I'll be doing the same thing... I-20 to 84 to I-40 to Albuquerque.

My Wife bought a Fiero when they first came out. We drove it for several years and never had a single problem with it.

Make sure you know where to turn from there. If there's anything that rabbit thought me it's shotguns can be plugged with your fingers or tied in a bow, and Albuquerque has confusing turns.
