It is amazing how many great works of art were disparage on their first appearance. All of Mahler's symphonies, numerous great novels, several famous operas, were all hated by most at first. Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker was a flop, until people saw the greatness therein. Even the film It's a Wonderful Life was dismissed at the box-office. With time, the greatness emerges and is appreciated. Perhaps it will be the same with the Elgin dash. Just give it a chance to grow on you.
My favorite actor Jimmy Stewart. I just bought latest 10 hour cd set of "The Six Shooter" from Radio Spirits. Going to have fun listening to Westerns on my road trip to Shreveport for Independence Bowl. I guess in Elio I will need to put them on a stick drive for USB port.

I have an idea. The Elgin dash is less than ideal for those of us with bifocals and it will be difficult to read at a glance for anyone. I propose painting the speedo dial green for a segment equal to ten mph at the spot where one will get the greatest fuel economy. In top gear on a level road I suppose this will be between 35 and 45 mph. Put a blue segment at 50 to 60 mph and a red segment from 70 to 80. With a little experience a glance would allow the driver to accurately judge his speed. Green just showing on the right = 25 to 30 red just showing on the left, ease back on the gas. The speedo would look the same when the Elio is stopped as it does now. Perhaps if Paul would meet us 5% of the way he could reduce the pain with the only aspect of the vehicle that is unsatisfactory for a majority of buyers/potential buyers.

Great idea.

BUT...

I want the green from 65-75, where mine will spend most of its' time.

Well, there goes that plan too.

Any primary color for the first segment, any remaining primary color for the second, and the remaining one for the third segment. I picked green for the first because you would probably be going slow enough to not get a ticket unless you were on urban two lane streets and fast enough so that you would not be ticketed for going too slow. Run over and crushed yes, ticketed no. Red for the last one for obvious reasons. Even if we only get the 65-75 segment marked that would be a help.
