Back in my flying days there was a "Jill's John". But that takes us right back to the contortionist crack by Coss.
Our Learjet 35A for the day had 7 seats: 1 back couch, 2 aft-facing chairs, 2 forward-facing chairs, and 1 sideways facing “potty seat” (in a jumpseat-like position). The “potty seat” is a makeshift lavatory where the seat cushion lifts off, you put up a curtain around yourself, and use toilet. In reality though, it’s much better used as a jump seat because you cant drink enough straight whiskey to over come the experience as a passenger.

The really interesting part is between 6:30 and 9:30 (roughly) when Paul talks about the way options will make it into the car, and the charges.

Apologies if this is duplicative, because I know we've talked about it, but maybe this will clear things up.

1. Suppliers will "compete" for access on the Elio via the level of interest shown by consumers (us) on the Elio Plus website. The most popular items in a category (e.g., heated seats) will make it; others won't.

2. Pricing to the customer will be Elio's cost plus 20% PLUS a 10% "infrastructure tollbooth". Elio will estimate this, but the example given was $300. That's to cover all the pigtails, access points, etc needed to install the full set of most popular options. It's unclear whether or not cars will be built without this "infrastructure toll", in other words, a true stripper, or whether EM has just successfully covered a good chunk of their cost over run, e.g, we're now looking at $7100 instead of $6800. Paul said that initially, the toll will be an estimate, to be refined as things get rolling.

3. Paul also said that if the customer doesn't like an installed option, EM will take it out with a "liberal refund policy." So suppliers need to make sure their stuff is removable. And -- get this -- Paul specifically mentioned "in dash" options as something that might be tricky to remove. DOES THIS MEAN AN OPTIONAL DASH PANEL???? A way around the Elgin Dash? Sure sounded like it.

All told, I think EM has come up with a very, very cagey way to get a broad selection of options at a reasonable price -- and to make a little money doing it. Go Paul!

Tricky to remove? Where's my sawzall!! Tricky doesn't stop a sawzall ..................... :becky:

Actually most dashboards are just a jigsaw puzzle; that's why I used to do so many at a shop I worked for; no one wanted to touch them.
I didn't have a problem; but I might now because I don't fold and bend like I used to; and you have to be willing to work upside down on your head (you learn to keep your mouth shut the whole time so you don't swallow falling pieces)
