A Google Now card brought the Cree SAM to my attention. It isn't my cup of tea but it is a three wheel vehicle that is cheap and is expected to be brought to the U.S. shortly.

Their website: http://www.cree.ch/

And check out this video of trying to drive it in the snow (remember this is a swiss company):

This video is longer and in german but there is a lot of stuff to see with regard to how the vehicle is manufactured, works, and drives.

At the end of the second video, #2, there is a grid of Utube videos. There is an ELIO video called "Fun with my ELIO".
It shows roof boxes, saddlebags, side and rear bike racks and trailers.
Interesting!!

I'd consider buying it if it was less expensive and I wasn't already committed to the Elio. At least it's not some cheap knockoff from the East; it looks hand built by professionals instead of cheap labor.

Jeff, Thanks for posting the videos. The Cree SAM looks very interesting in terms of performance and handling.

I saw that as well and noted it for future reference. I doubt those would put much of a dent on the Elio's fuel economy.

I'm a little confused about the bump on the hood. I get that it's there to cover the wipers, but it seems excessive and looks like it obscures the driver's view over the hood.

It would be good for Cree, EM, and similar manufacturers to record an interior video while the vehicle is in motion and play it without any voiceover or music. I'd like to get a sense of what the interior sounds and noises are like.

The "bump" on the hood is hiding the motor for the windshield wiper.

There is just one thought that keeps hitting me every time I look at the Sam
Dam that thing is ugly
