At $799 I would not buy the Navdy. I wouldn't buy it for half of that. I would pay 350 to $400 for it. It looks as if the iScout is going to do a better job, but I'm not sure it's as well made. On the Navdy, everything from the electrical cords to the little stick on buttons that hold your wire in place to the electrical connection which is magnetic are thought out really well and executed very solidly. The Navdy
is a high-quality piece of work. But I sure as hell wouldn't want to pay that much for it. If the iScout is made halfway decently, it seems to offer more functionality at a better price. Certainly more Elios kind of thing.

As an early adopter and tester I got mine for 300 bucks, and I feel it was worth that much for sure.

The original offer for NAVDY was $199.00 that's what I paid with free shipping! It rocks! I'm saving it for my Elio. Everybody I told about it laughed and told me I would never see it (just like the Elio) but they all have seen it and love it and the Elio will be here soon and I will have the last laugh!

Well that leaves me out; I've shut off data connection unless it's wireless (WIFI)
So good by location and turn by turn.

Speedo; does it get speed by GPS or from OBDII ?
You can download google maps while on WiFi and then use those stored maps for turn by turn direction (that's what I do). This keeps your phone from having to continuously download map segments. You then simply turn off data and let your GPS and stored maps guide you away.

Better pictures -- much better -- here: https://ekhphoto.smugmug.com/Navdy-HUD/
Can you change the position of the projected image without moving the unit?
Example, in mine, I might like it a little further up on the windshield because of the way I sit, and location of windshield.
Or do you have to "play" with unit location and angle? The top of the gauges is round, so mounting might be really interesting.

The flat area is only 3" at best

The Navdy comes with a mount of stiff but flexible "wings" which are coated with a tacky adhesive. you could mount it in the cowl in the photo. in addition the Navdy includes two suction cup muounts if the standard one won't work. the power cord routes to the mount, and the display unit snaps onto the base with a hefty magnet. it stays out.

That said positioning the mount and display is a little finicky. it took me several tries to get it just right.

You can adjust the height of the data displayed on the screen by tilting the screen towards you or away from you in tiny increments. Once you get it right uit stays there pretty well.

And does it distort the display if you have it at too steep of an angle or ? Like you said, "it took you several tries to get it just right". Is that "right" mean square to you?

Yes, it means square to you
Too high or too low causes a little ripple in the bottom or top line of text, or if you're really out you can go off the top or bottom of the screen. you adjust the screen by holding it by the edges or by putting your thumb or finger on the top edge of the screen. this really isn't the hassle that it sounds like as I describe it.

Yes, sounds worse than it sounds, but I understand what you mean.
In short, once you have it where you like it, don't touch it! (Unless you feel like driving yourself crazy). I'm the same way with the rearview mirror and the camera.

Exactly! I don't think I've touched my mirror in over a year. BUT, I was riding with my daughter in her 2002 Prius at night trying to do some troubleshooting for her. A car came up behind us and I reached up and flipped the lever for night driving and she went (Ohhhhhh... I was wondering what that lever was for)

My daughter was the same way with the cruise control; when she told me it quit working after the first day I asked to go look. Took it out for a drive and it worked perfect; first question from her was "how did you do that?"
I had a very simple answer for her; turn it ON first. She didn't know it would turn its self off each time you turned off the car and that first step was ON first, use it second.
