Better if I leave them alone, EMV has to be working feverishly to get to production and get those initial units on the road! Hey I'll be happy just to see that! A lot easier to wait when you can actually see them on the road!
Whether they're working feverishly or not, no manufacturer should disregard the wants and needs of it's market on the way to production.
Fortunately for us, the owner and staff of EMV seem to welcome communication with EMV customers and they exhibit quick response times.
The CEO and owner responds to a large percentage of emails personally. EMV has been known to respond at all hours, including weekends.
That CEO and owner will be in a live chat with us Monday night starting at 9:00pm EST to listen to our concerns and answer questions.
That would be a good opportunity to suggest color options for the dash. If I do decide to go with a red Solo, I'll want a silver dash.

I wouldn't bet on both doors being functional on the production models.
While the original configuration may not be an MC compliance thing...
I think the NHTSA is going to require it because of the seat belt.
But then again, I took another look at this image that Rick posted over yonder...
And yep, there are outside handles on both doors.

So... There's always hope.

The Red displayed in the Solo Store had 2 functioning doors, 2 interior handles, but could only see 1 (curbside) exterior handle.

I noticed the 2 exterior door handles on the latest Black pre-production Solo immediately. A good sign of a 2 door production model. A hopeful WooHoo!
The pre-production Solo builds are undergoing some minor changes/improvements as a result of Jerry's (and others) daily road testing miles to improve the Solo increasing the odds of public acceptance of an enclosed three wheeler. Many potential Solo owners would red flag 1 door as a potential safety issue that could jeopordize a sale. EMV's Intermeccanica Partner has a talented team of custom car builders.

It's the psychology of safety argument for many people. I'm to old and beat up to climb through a window if/when I roll my Solo Racer. I think 2 doors will garner wider acceptance. Plus the advantage of my old arthritic frame getting in or out on the side of choice.

I'm certain 1 door is a non-issue for many, but 2 doors would not be a deal breaker on purchasing the vehicle, whereas, 1 door might.

Elio's shifter is on the curb side, so 2 doors is not an option, but I'll still buy one. :)

There in lies the argument. Generally is the key word. If my Solo Racer rolls on it's side or completely rolls, the undamaged door may open or if I get into a parking situation where one door is blocked by an inconsiderate driver I can still access the vehicle without having to crawl through the cargo hatch. I know it's unlikely to happen, but it's like insurance, if or when you need it, it's nice to have. Generally, I would likely not survive a roll over at 137 mph or 80 mph.

Would you not buy the Solo or the Elio if they had 2 doors? Many may not buy either vehicle because of the single door. Those folks may already have some safety issues with the idea of a three wheeler commuter. Personally, it's not a deal breaker for me either way, just prefer 2 for convenience and peace of mind. The psychology of marketing to the masses.
