Yeah, but booboo, we've got to get ourselves to the place where we realize that Tesla doesn't have a flying freek to do with the Elio. Nada.
They are both personal transportation companies that were started in the new millennium.
If Elon Musk is Iron Man,
Who is Paul Elio ? I hope he becomes a superhero too.

Yep. LIke Lady Ga Ga and I are both human beings born in the same century.
I can personally guarantee that Lady Ga Ga and I have absolutely nothing to do with one another.
Trust me on that. ;)

Of course, we might actually get a useful Friday blog that says "hey true believers, Elio Motors secured the funding needed to go into production, and have you see the latest 10 E series models?"

But while we are speculating, what if a Chinese company bought out the Elio IP and produced a vehicle with the same quality, specs, and price as the Elio but with Chinese parts and labor. For giggles, say they even used the IAV motor design. Then offered to honor the reservations. Would you still buy? Same design, same quality, same MPG, same price, but foreign content and manufacture.

The Chinese do not have a foothold in the US auto market and that might be a good way for them to get in, like Hyundai did, start at the bottom and work up.

I thought about Elio and China too. I suggested here once that Paul threaten TPTB with that possibility. I do not know how near and dear to his heart the Made In America must have #3 is, now that we are fully employed and times have changed. Personally, it was never a must have of mine. Heck, make em in Mexico, I took Spanish in High School.

So when have they have posted a profit? They bleed over $500B a year. Have you done any research on Tesla?
Do your own research Grumpy Cat...Tesla has posted multiple profitable quarters now, and if you seriously think that cash or profit is what defines a successful company, you are sadly mistaken. Take a look at Amazon, one of the largest online retailers in the world, and in 20 years of business they have rarely posted a significant "profit" at all. That's because they do generate a significant amount of REVENUE, but then turn those dollars back into the company, investing back into the company. Tesla does the exact same thing.

I used to have a saying when I was in business.

Chinese already have a distribution and parts network in the US. It's called Volvo Automotive. No reason why Geeley couldn't just build their own Elio without buying anything from Elio. All Geeley would have to do is just use the existing Volvo network and introduce a new brand (i.e. Mini, Smart, Fiat). Whole thing could be designed and built in China and I bet they would have it done in 12 months. Probably for $8K and safer than the current Elio (just use the legendary Volvo engineers to figure it out in 2 weeks). Then you'd have a national network for service, sales and parts.

As for reservations, don't honor them. Sell 20k/year to start. There are enough hungry Elio people out there that will buy one.
