Decided to bail out of my Elio stocks today. Sold them all. Made enough profit to cover my $100 all in and get the rest back.
So basically I'm even. Why did I bail? With Elio delaying production yet again to 2019, I decided I could invest better in something else.
I also considered that if they do get listed on the NYSE that the stocks I had would be diluted and be worth less. (Didn't Warren Buffet say rule #1 was don't lose money?) There are too many unknowns for me to remain comfortable. No answers coming anytime soon from the looks of it. Still if they do produce, and I hope they do, I will buy one.
Who said production was delayed until 2019? News to me!!!!!

Elio needs 72 weeks to production after receiving money. Right now that would mean middle of January 2019 if receiving money today
I would assume that is negotiable.
For instance, if I had the money to help start Elio production, it would be understood that production be started asap.

You are right. Any time spent negotiating with contactors and suppliers would delay further. If money is coming soon they should deal with these things now.

Modeled and tooled after what completely finalized and tested production model?
They don't even have a prototype that they can put through proper pre-production testing yet.
They can't even release any real-world performance specifications with what they've got.

And with what fully developed, finalized and tested engine?
Remember that we've heard absolutely nothing further about the variable valve system.
The one that was supposed to be developed, installed, activated, tweaked and tuned at a later date.

The one that's supposed to give X more mpg & HP.

Given Elio Motors track record, when they say they need that much time (and money) for...
Design finalization, prototype production and extensive testing/modification...
Plus tooling, systems integration, hiring and training...

To have any chance at all of producing a quality vehicle... I believe them.

Good comment. Agree with you. Well not quite.
My thinking.
95% of the engineering has been done. 5 Prototypes done. Hand built engineering vehicles done.

Open Shreveport Operations the day after new funding, even if there is only a janitor position open.
Make Louisiana happy again. People are tired of waiting, this in not good. It can be done, and done in a timely manner.

1. Body is finalized, order the stamping and steel. All new engineering and test vehicles have finalized body and unibody chassis.
2. Order some engine-drive trains, put them to the test. Refine as necessary.
2.a. Get everything else final eyes. Start making production test vehicle. Complete production/safety tests.
(1-2 could be done in a few months, really, well maybe a few more months, no really, within a year.)
________________________________________________________________________________
4. Start part time production, make a few hundred, put them out there for real world 1st run testing. Complete.
( I think reservation holders could be part of #4 too, THE SOONER THE BETTER, with the understanding their vehicle is a first run, under testing. No major problems they keep it, unlikely major problem turn them in, little problems fixed, and incentives given for being a 1st run Elio Owner.)
__________________________________________________________________________
5. Start true production with full time staffing, to make a reasonable amount/day. Not full production yet.
6. Get feedback from these customers, making sure nothing has been missed in previous testing.
7. Positive feedback, ramp up. Negative feedback, fix quickly, then ramp.
(Okay, put 72 weeks here. FULL PRODUCTION START! )

The point is, the sooner a production vehicle is tested, the sooner it is perfected.

While this thread is fun reading, it is just theoretical nonsense. Sometimes I feel the Elio folks are just out to get more reservations for a concept that may never happen. It would be nice if Paul sent an exclusive email to all "all in" reservation and stake holders about his plan for the future of Elio. All companies develop and try to adhere to some type of schedule, why should Elio be any different?

It's fun sometimes reading posts so elaborately detailed with Elio options and future use plans and distribution and marketing strategies. Like Elio Amazed recently pointed out, nothing is truly done yet, nothing.

I go between those Kubler Ross stages of death thing: you remember, anger, denial, bargaining.... eventually 'acceptance.' The only stage I add in is 'reminding people new to do their homework' so that they don't have to get into the (downward) cycle too.
