It wasnt for his lack of trying. I don't hold any grudge against Paul. These things fail a lot more often than they succeed. Anyone who thought this was a guaranteed thing is being quite foolish. I'm out about $2K in stock and $1K in deposits. I didnt invest more than I could afford to lose. I dont get how some people on here continue to think this could still turn around. In my mind, the opera is over. The fat lady is already back in her apartment eating bon-bons.

I also assume all the various automotive sub-component manufactures that Elio Motors approached for price quotes probably now realize that the Elio project is a non-productive use of their time and resources...

All they need to do is get a requote. We all have to remember that inflation runs at approximately 2% per year. The last quote Elio had for their car was $7,526 and that was back in the beginning of 2017. That price is literally a guess due to their experience. If they are close, then the price of the car today would be around $7,626. In 2019, then it would be $7,778.

Then there's the price to get to production. Again, the quote is over a year old and $376.6M would be $384.1M today or $391.8M in 2019. If we get hit with that 25% steel and 10% aluminum tariff, the price for the car and outfitting the plant goes up even more than the 2% per year inflation rate. One thing I have learned is that you cannot avoid inflation and tariffs unless you have a long term contract that has a fixed price. That only goes to big existing manufacturers for any product, not just cars.

We get most of our steel and alum, from Canada and Mexico per his statements. He wants to make Canada and Mexico exempt on the tariff.

That's good to know. I'll let everyone else know when they try to crank up the price of their projects. Last thing I want is suppliers lying to me that they are paying more for material when in fact they are not.
