I sat in the black E1c and it felt about the same as my Toyota Echo. I'm only 5'6" but could see clearly out the windows. In general the quality was pretty good, considering it was a prototype. I decided right then I wanted one. Still do. However, with the way Elio is releasing information I will no longer consider them as an investment. I fully expect them to file for bankruptcy soon but still hope that someone decides to produce a similar vehicle. As I'm getting up in age and will probably retire in a few years, it's unlikely it will be made before then. At that time I will probably just buy a used vehicle for a couple thousand dollars and drive it till I can't no more. (Me - not the car).

Just remember, you sat in prototypes. Not production versions. When people talk about "quality" it typically means, the level of the interior and exterior components. Suppliers of things like the whole interior, lighting, insulation and exterior components have different levels of what you can put in the car. There's a good better and best level. As you can tell, it's just like the old days with Sears. Wanted to buy a storm door, you had three levels. All did the same thing but Good was not in the ballpark as Best. It just depended on how much you wanted to spend.

The first Elio I sat in had carpet even though I was told it was an option (I know it's standard now). If you see a prototype, they are hand made and do not use the cheap stuff. Every manufacturer decks out the prototypes and pre production for everyone to see. It's to get you excited until reality hits and you find out that model is the most expensive. Think about it, when Ford introduces the new model of F150, they will not strut around the bare bones fleet model special, it'll be the top of the line. Thus people are impressed.

There's no way that Elio can build a car that's $5K less than anything else in America and use a better level of components. It makes absolutely no economic sense.

A ‘shout out’ to Lilly Mae, a frequent poster here, for years. I’d sincerely like to know what her opinion about what’s going on now (or not going on, now) with The Elio Motors Saga.....

What say, Lilly Mae? I think she had two Elios on order.....

Thanks!

I've done some minor research on Paul and I found nothing good .Now I could be wrong and have been 72.6% of my life but the fellow doesn't give me a warm feeling .Should have done more leg work before tossing in my $100 .

I've sat in both the grey and the orange Elio show cars. And walked around them. And looked under the hoods. And laid on the ground and examined the undersides. Also have sat in or driven about half the cars on the list. Shall we say that you and I came to different conclusions? I would agree that a fair number of the people who sat in the prototypes made reservations, and that Elio did not build them fast enough to keep up with the demand.

HA, love that last line. Did not build them fast enough?? They haven't built any. We could argue that zero is a speed, but there are more important things to do. (like prepare for the more likely occurrence of our Detroit Lions winning the Superbowl :D)

I spent much more than 100 on many things and got nothing in return. I think most of us have. For the 100 on Elio, I got a shirt I still wear and a bumper sticker that I still have displayed on my truck (It actually held up really good).
Plus I have spent hours going over post on this site and the other (now gone) site, youtube, etc. Find it all interesting. To be honest, was a good 100 spent. And who knows, maybe will get 100+ off an Elio at some point.

Same here, 100 worth of entertainment. My only issue is that I have another 1200 in the investment side, that I never figured out how to put in my Fidelity account, so it is just out there wherever it lives. Or maybe it was absorbed into something. I did give up enough that I bought a new car last week.
