Instead of earbuds that block a lot of the sound you should be hearing while on your bicycle, get a pair of the shooting earplugs that let 80% - 90% of the normal sound through but do a decent job of blocking anything above 81 DB within milliseconds.. They have a very tiny attached cap that optionally fits over a tiny valved hole going through the plugs, so you have the option of blocking a great deal more sound if you ever have the need to.They're designed to protect you from the sound of gunshots while hunting, while still enabling you to hear your surroundings at normal sound levels. They're so small, light and comfortable that you forget you have them in. They're not very expensive at all. You can find them at most local sporting goods stores / departments and you can get them on Ebay at great prices.
Thanks EA I'll look into it. It's kinda strange that Amazon didn't show that one. I just bought Awesafe electronic shooting sports folding earmuff about 3-4 months ago and it does the job but I like the sound of of your suggestion.

I've got a set of Peltor Sport Muffs for on when I'm on stand and I use the Surefire Sonic Defender plugs when I'm walking / stalking. I use a set of Champion muffs at the range. I never shoot at indoor ranges but I still double up when I shoot the louder ordinance. Here's the link to the Sonic Defenders. Be sure to scroll down the page. Lots of good information about them and they come in a variety of colors. You might be able to get them elsewhere and forgo the shipping cost. I don't know if they still do, but Walmart used to sell them. https://www.amazon.com/SureFire-Defenders-filtered-Earplugs-reusable/dp/B004DH65RI

It will be interesting to see if the number of cases goes up after this weekend. My bet is that it will. People can't wait to get out, and that usually means mixing with other people. Too bad the contact tracing software isn't available yet.

On a side note, the Ohio BWC (workers compensation insurance is by the state), has decided to send out masks to all the companies it covers. Our company, with about twenty-five employees, will get a box of fifty. Larger companies will get more boxes. No increase in premiums either.

Also, Benchmark Industries has some supplies available. benchmarkinc.com
Somewhat decent prices. We bought 1/2 gallon jugs of hand sanitizer for $14.95 each. (It's 80% alcohol)

I bet the number of cases will go up after this holiday weekend, too. Around here they are practically begging people to get tested: no symptoms, no prescription, no residency requirements, mostly ez drive thru**. Maybe interesting to historians some day but the main driver of positive results are the high numbers of people going in for testing. What counts is hospital admissions, complicated medical issues, and deaths in the general population. ‘At the end of the day,’ it’s going to work against those jurisdictions that are still trying to elicit unreasonable fear by driving up their region’s test numbers since the ‘death’ number will be what it will be (after the errors there are removed). The percentage of deaths and complications will be even lower compared to those tested. In the short term they appear to have an argument, in the long term we will see how mass hysteria took over.

** one unintended consequence here , in my area particularly (big Fed Gubmint), there is belief/hope that with a ‘positive’ test even asymptomatic you will not have to report back to work and can continue to receive 100 unemployment, get free food, etc., long after the private sector recovers. Plus, they have to have something for the 900 ‘contact tracers’ to do. That’s at the DC local level, many other states with big urban pockets are establishing their own similar boondoggles. They are employing ‘follow up’ strategies based on the early AIDS days. I’d say ‘a dollar short and a day late,’ but they’ll never be a ‘dollar short’ with the MSM spin and Feds and Big Cities spending money they don’t have.

You believe/trust the CDC? Which one? The one that said that masks were unnecessary or the one that says that masks are essential? The one that said that contact must be avoided, and everything wiped down, cleaned, and sanitized repeatedly, or the one that says that contact transmission is not a risk factor? You trust the CDC whose official guidelines instructed that any deaths with even a possible coincidental link to C-19 should be declare as a Covid-19 death? You trust the CDC who fell for the debunked death models by the hypocritical, adulterous Ferguson?

You listen to "medical professionals" but ignore the ones who have been censored (by big tech more than the government) for clearly stating the facts regarding transmission, death rates, risk factors, and flawed models. Facts which are based on reality, rather than estimates based on flawed models and projections.
Here's a link to a letter signed by medical professionals who aren't following the media-driven panic: https://drive.google.com/file/d/19AWKummeK3IHoNcKgIWU8hZPrQq4-EZb/view

Didn't bother with the "Karma" video. If karma were a thing, Rand Paul would be the perfect example. High-risk, got C-19, stayed asymptomatic, helped others.

Rick, don't both with a list of the experts you believe. It's quite obvious that you fell for the media story, and take them to be the experts.

Mandatory testing and especially contact tracing are massive invasions of personal rights and liberties. Why on earth any free American would think that following the pattern of the Communist Chinese Social Credit Scoring system is a good idea is totally beyond my comprehension.

Make America Smart Again.

From what I see, it may be a little too late for that. We’ve been too watered down the past few decades. I hope I am wrong: the best we Americans (and Canadians) can hope for is ‘damage control’ and maybe ‘a stay.of execution,’

Sadly, I agree and hope we are both wrong. I’m old and have never witnessed such a Divided States of America from the top on down. The country can’t even unite over simple common sense safety measures of wearing a mask, social distancing, and a smart reopening plan. My wife walked over to the city library yesterday and said everyone was wearing a mask and it’s not a city requirement. I can only conclude that people that use the library are literate, smart, believe in science; not science fiction, and care about our community.

Do you think that people are more accepting of following safety guidelines in areas where the average population is older and therefore has lived through more? How about In areas that have been hot spots with the highest case and death rates where people are more likely to know someone that has had a rough time, has long-lasting organ damage, or has died due to complications of the virus? In other words, If I haven't seen it yet, it likely won't affect me or mine so screw the masks and distancing..
