Those things would be REQUIRED if it was a car. It's not (so far) so that could have saved him some money. He seems willing to burn it, so I hope he made the right choice.

Exactly my point, any reasonable person can see that. Prices go up every year and elio has been advertising this for over two years and it will be over 3 by the time it comes off the assembly line. Is a ten percent increase in the retail price unreasonable? $500 or $600 more in 3 years..? Based on 10 years of selling vehicles, I have seen exactly that. My numbers are close..and we are beginning to see many more people begin to wake up to the fact EM has to make money to pay the employees, the factory loan and the materials and for the design team to make the Elio 2!

In 2010 they had it down to $5,500.00, MPG went from 66 to 83MPG and then they went and added the cost of AC and the power windows, another $495. I say make AC an option to keep down the base price. In Ohio I use the one in my Cav the 5 or 6 days a year it gets into the low 90s. Hell, bring back the little window wings they had back in the day. JMO:)

Well, we kinda do know about the price of an basic elio. We know the base price is $6800 but EM says it is about $300 more right now..so lets use that ok. $7100. The destination charge is basically $750 because many tour officials are quoting that. $7100+$750 is $7850....then a prep fee has been mentioned by EM..I'll guess $150. $7850+$150.= $8000. I can say with confidence the price may be at least $200 more by late 2015..because i see my grocery bill go up every month. Add at lease, another $700-$800 according to Jerome the national sales manager for the automatic. (we are trying to keep it under $1000.)
..If the versa 5 speed is $11,000 then it is $3000 more but can carry 4 people and has a decent sized trunk. I am not sure of the warranty, but Elio is only 3/36. That is not going to stop me, will it stop any of you ?
Nope. o_O

You can choose to believe whatever you wish however what you believe really has no bearing on truth.

Right now you are doing just what we were discussing which is making statements without the facts to back then up. The conference calls are known to be true and this information is backed up with documentation which a number of members have seen.

Wow, if that ain't doublespeak...what an impressive display of cognitive dissonance.

"Something something, appeal to un-named authorities, something. Believe you me!"

I want an Elio more than most of you, I'm sure, but this kind of echo chamber, cultish appeals hurts credibility.

Post said documentation and evidence, or it didn't happen.

If they plan on a real "5 Star" rating (which I don't know how you get for a motorcycle) doesn't that mean expensive testing by destruction of expensive prototype vehicles as you slam them into walls/cars/each other? Plus the re-designs needed (if needed) to make it pass.

I think the 5-star thing was added to make people feel more comfortable about buying a "motorcycle", but it will bite Elio in the ass in the end.
A well engineered reinforced roll cage provides the added comfort of driving a safe vehicle. Elio doesn't have to do it they want to do it. Admirable for a startup car-cycle manufacturer. It's that attitude that will make Elio a highly successful company. Most people will ask............"just how safe is that thing?" Hell let them crash as many as they need to.........to make it as safe as that light weight class of vehicle can be........don't rush em.

If potential Elio customers initially thought Elio was a motorcycle they wouldn't even consider it. IMHO

I guess in your last line you must be claiming to be God then since apparently everything you say is the truth and you are exempt from your own stated standard of providing evidence to back up your claims.

Can you back up anything you have said with any evidence at all?

I don't know, I think most people are under the assumption that the "motorcycle" definition is just semantics. It technically doesn't fit the definition of a car, so they have to go with motorcycle. If it had 2 wheels and required a sense of balance, then I would say most would not be interested. When you see it, you get it. Trikes have always been classed as motorcycles.

And I agree on the roll cage. That is a big plus that I am glad they went for it, but I don't know if that's any one or part of a star in a 5 star rating.

$6,800 ?

A 2014 Nissan Versa at $10,990 weighs 2363 pounds. The cost to purchase is $4.65 per pound.
A ?year Elio at $6,800 weighs 1,200 pounds. The cost to purchase is $5.66 per pound.

The purpose of this is not to say we buy vehicles by the pound but the price we pay for a new Elio will be $1.01 per pound of materials more than a Nissan Versa.

If Nissan can sell for that cost why can't Elio?

Ok the fire suit is on so have at it.:rolleyes:
Well said. Materials have a cost and if the Elio uses less material, it'll cost less material-wise... if it's easier to assemble, it'll use less wage-money... if it's dealer network is simplified (it will be), there will be less profit lost to dealers... There's something to be said for light, simple, easy...
