This is first time I have seen an Elio in person and it is beautiful and finely made. The exterior is smooth and sleek, with all the elements flowing well. The rear hatchback, the front wheel skirts, the door and body panels seem to fit without gaps and flex. The interior is cozy, fitting my 6 foot 210 pound frame very well, and I was able to sit in the rear seat with some comfort, even with the front seat all the way back. I was told that the next prototype will have 2" of increased headroom in the back.
It does seem to exude a quality that belies its $6800 list price.
To see an Elio is to purchase one. Too bad we have to wait, at least, another year....

Welcome to the forum and the Elio family. Like you I was immediately impressed when I sat in the P3 model last year. glad you joined this group to learn more about the development and production of our Elio's. You will mind most of us friendly and helpful so don't hesitate to ask questions or make suggestions. Welcome and enjoy the journey to Elio ownership

Well, my wife and I got to see, touch and even sat in the P4 today. If she was not totally sold on the Elio before, she is now. By the look in her eyes I know I will have to get a second one now.
Sorry, I can't contribute any new tid bits, when we were looking over the P4 there were no senior Elio people there. I asked the young guys there a few test questions and the answers were, as expected, things we already know or they don't have the answer. I will be waiting to see Joshua's recording also.

1) Will there be an option to have a custom paint job done prior to delivery, such as through a subcontractor.
*** No

2) when is the P5 expected?
*** I'm not allowed to answer that, sorry, I wish I could.

3) are there still 18-26 P5s planned for production or will that be delayed till another model?
*** I'm not entirely positive on that, I've only been with the show for about 2 months.

4) do they have an estimated fully loaded price for those of us who would opt for every available item? (Heated leather seats, heated-dim able side mirrors, cruise control, floor mats, automatic transmission, Bluetooth radio/phone hookup, etc)
*** We don't have a total price, the list of all of the options should be available by the end of summer, I would guess between $10-$11k.

5) will there be any hotel parking lot events for the days between Stamford CT and Boston MA such as in Hartford CT or Providence RI?
*** NO

6) when will North Carolina get a visit? And is the helmet law what is causing Elio to avoid the state?
*** Unknown, and no.

7) how can the rear plastic area be removed?
*** The back section should swing up and then the tire is on a swing arm that will swing to the side.
--- It doesn't make sense for the tire itself to swing to the side so I asked another person, they said the back section would swing up and nothing said about the tire swinging to the side.

8) is there a reason to NOT paint the dark plastic areas to match the Elio body?
:( forgot to ask

9) will there be mounting spots for a full sized license plate if the law will allow for it?
:( forgot to ask

10) the last we heard, $47m out of $200m had been raised, that figure is half a year old, what is the current figure?
*** Did not know

11) what Dashboard options will be available in addition to the Elgin? Specifically will there be a full LCD option and an "old school" option?
*** Did not know

12) is the AMT going to be the standard option or will it be extra like the normal automatic option mentioned, or is the AMT actually the discussed automatic option?
*** AMT will be the automatic option mentioned, and gets same MPG as normal manual.

13) Will we be able to choose our tinting?, such as the following which is a heat resistant tint rather than one to make the Elio windows dark http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/...ucts/Automotive/Crystalline_Automotive_Films/
*** Did not know

14) Will there be an option to have electricity run to the fenders so that Can-Am light strips, etc. can be applied?
*** They have been discussing putting turn signals on the fenders for increased visiblity from the side.

15) Would there be a benefit from hiding the windshield wiper from the wind and is this planned?
*** This is planned

16) Is the reason the bottom is not covered in a smooth fairing or is that planned for later?
*** This is planned and the exhaust is going to be relocated.

17) I've heard that the IAV engine is being detuned to meet the 84MPG goal. Will an option be a switch that the driver can change between Eco (detuned) and Sport (original tuning) modes?
*** Did not know

18) Are wraps going to be done in-house or subcontracted out?
*** Did not know, wasn't even aware that wraps were mentioned on the website, again has only been with the company for a couple of months.
--- The second guy I asked wasn't sure how it would work either.

There where more folks to answer questions than to ask at a few points. The machine makes a good impression in person. It is a bit scruffier from all the folks getting in and out but looks great. My fat butt fits front and rear.

Got my wife to sit in it my sister had no interest. Got the impression that the folks around the vehicle where mostly the faithful that had come to look rather than converts that had stumbled on to this. Did get there and leave early that may have been different as the place fill up a bit it was fairly empty there while I was there.

I left with no new knowledge but did confirm the fact this works for me.
