time and space

the deer will only be in that exact intersecting point for a fraction of a second

so the FASTER YOU GO

THE LESS LIKELY YOU ARE TO EVER HIT A DEER !

62 years riding a motorcycle never went down or hit anything !!

in October at 11pm I was heading home here on Island when I saw two deer up ahead

there are THOUSANDS here as there is no hunting and no predators

so I stopped to let them pass

started to move again (speed limit is 25 MPH) and GAZAAAM …

another deer out of the woods tried to jump OVER me ??

hit me in the head, down we went, me and my bike and Mr. Deer

I should have been going FASTER !!!

those front wheels will tear right off just like paper when they hit something …

i predict we will see DAILY pictures being posted of front outriggers being sheared off …it is a new perspective for drivers to become accustomed ...

great advice , never thought to speed-up if a possible obstruction in front of me, that's really a great idea, I just wonder why I've never seen this technique posted before. I'll submitt this suggestion to the FHP (Florida Highway patrol), hope I get at least a TY for passing along this wonderful solution!!!

That is about the most ludicrous thing I have read on this or any other forum...

Yeah, but you just said... oh forget it...

He's got something there! The closer you get to the speed of light, the slower the deer will appear to go. Hell, if you exceed it, the deer will actually reverse direction, and move right out of your way! Wait....What was the projected top speed of the Elio?o_O

I live in a area that is heavily populated with deer. I really don't want and will take extra care not ,to hit any, but that being said , wonder how the Elio will take meeting a deer. I don't think even with a 5 star rating will help. Hopefully the deer will decide to jump over. I just think in my case I will have to limit my speed till I get outta the woods.
I will be mounting deer whistles on my Elio. I have them mounted on every vehicle that I own, including my motorcycle. I have seen them in action, though there are many doubters that say they do not work. While riding my bike in the dusk of a fall evening, I came upon a left curve at about 40 miles per hour. To the right there was an open field with 7 deer galloping toward the road. When my headlight crossed their path (would be the same time that the sound of the deer whistles) they all stopped dead in their tracks and turned to the opposite direction. Make sure you mount the whistles in the correct order right/left. Hope this helps.

Aside from damage to the vehicle, many people are injured from hitting a deer because the deer enters through the windshield injuring the occupants. My sister and her husband hit a deer and suffered injuries because the deer went through the windshield and landed in the back seat. I suspect you will be safer in an Elio than in any other car. Because the windshield is narrower, the A pillars are closer together and there is a greater chance the deer will be stopped at the windshield and not go all the way through.

As accident reports come through the office we see them and we see as many accidents with deer where the vehicles had these "deer whistles" and vehicles that don't. Makes no difference, the only thing that truly makes a difference is drivers who know what they are doing when driving in areas where deer are.

Another reason I was hoping for a trailer hitch is for a hitch rack

Don't know about a hitch rack on the back of an E-car. There's only one wheel back there and could cause some serious wonkiness driving down the road if anything shifted! Not to mention the possibility of snagging something on the rack when turning or parking. That's coming from someone who's never had one though, so it could only be a perceived danger and not a real one.

Since the front track of the Elio is as wide as a regular car, if the front doesn't snag, a hitch rack won't snag either. Might cause some wonkiness. A small trailer would be a better option but it was just confirmed from the Charlotte tour towing would void the warranty

Ahhh sooo! I see what you mean, ok so wonkiness would be the only real possible problem then.
