So looking at the red F86 style images, if that is how EY2 will go, it's not so different from EY1 that it would be a model2, as a guess that would be just a next year upgrade. Opening a second model must diverge from a peer in some significant way. If it were a sport or luxury upgrade that can justify a two product market effort. So 'RED' would likely be a replacement.

SO I took another look at the video. This looks like it was all just concept art given to DES group so they could set parameters for what tooling and lead times were need. It doesn't say anything about what they are going to do with the ElioYear1. Cept a few things about the shape of the nose itself could shift.
I was told on Saturday that the ElioYear2 was being worked on by their 'engineers' who get bored easily. And this may feed into that. But the rendering doesn't seem to be directly from that activity to me as far as I can tell.

I have established a Facebook page to encourage the development and sharing of 3D printable Elio Motors design concepts. The page content is public and can be viewed without logging into Facebook as well.

I will also be updating the page with the progress I am making towards finalizing the model I can print for others who do not have access to a 3D printer.

https://www.facebook.com/elio3dprinting

After working on the designs a little, and listening to advice from several people more experienced than myself with 3D printing, I have decided to take two different approaches which will result in various models of varying complexity and as a result cost. I have decided to split the project into two parts which I am labeling "miniatures" and "models'.

Miniatures are essentially a single piece hollow or solid exterior vehicle form. I am not sure exactly what scale will work best for this just yet however I am hoping the computer model will be flexible enough to vary the scale from about 1:64 Matchbox scale to the 1:32 scale I mentioned previously. Miniatures are easier to design and print at the expense of the amount of fine detail which can be produced. I am hoping to be able to begin accepting requests for these within the next few weeks.

Models are similar to a traditional hobbyist plastic model in that they are made up of a number of smaller components which can then be assembled to produce a larger and more detailed object. It will likely take a bit of time to develop this kind of model however the result should be a much larger, hopefully full 1:24 model car size, and much more detailed model. These should be more representative of the detailed 3D renderings which this project is based on and you see on this page. There is no time-frame at all for this just yet as it depends on how long it takes to develop the needed computer models. It might even go fairly fast if someone with the right experience is willing to lend a hand as while I have some experience with the functional side of 3D printing my design experience is quite limited.

I really do appreciate all the good advice and encouragement I have been receiving and encourage constructive ideas and suggestions. All the files I have been working with have been uploaded to a Google drive folder for now and anyone should be able to go and grab them and take a look for themselves.

I also have some initial images of the Elio miniature, and a little bonus item, which will likely make available to members here before I offer it on Facebook.

I have no experience or knowledge but........ I WANT ONE!!!!!!

Are you going to offer them in the 7 Elio colors? Sign me up. :)

I have a feeling I am going to need a bigger printer.

But seriously I am glad you like them. I am color limited by the plastic material which is available for the printer but they offer a variety of general colors which should work well. The colors available for my printer are:

Black
White
Dark Grey
Gold
Silver
Bronze
Tan
Pale Yellow
Yellow
Neon Orange
Red
Magenta
Coral
Purple
Navy Blue
Blue
Teal
Neon Green
Green
Forest Green
Brown
Glow-in-the-drak Neon Green
Glow-in-the-dark Neon Blue

We will have to see what colors are popular and exactly how many vehicles I can get out of each spool of material as the spools are about $50 each.

*The colors are shown in the image below as well however due to the variation between monitors the exact shades may not be the same as the material.

Very cool, I may have to get 3 just so the can live in a spot and not have to take it everywhere I go. One for the house, One for at work, and one for the car. :D

I like GREEN put me down for the bottom row 4th in from right. (EDIT: FROM LEFT) (THE DARK GREEN)

GREAT now not only amped up about the actual Elio, I'll be anxious to get this too. :cool:o_O:D

Just let me know the cost and I'll shoot it to you via pay pal.

We have to thank AriLea as he took a lot of his time creating all this which I am now using as a basis for my project including the trailer.

I know Z would have really loved this entire project! I was actually planning to make some of these and give them to Z's family in memory of her.:)

Yes maybe a portion of the proceeds should go to him ???

Wait a minute...This sounds like a scam to me. Is this a ponzie scheme? :p :D
Sorry Goofy, I couldn't help myself. ;)
