.. Snipped...

Based on my understanding, Elio got one heck of a deal on the equipment. So I don't get his "overpaid a little" comment. And "prices naturally appreciated"? Really? In 18 months?.
You can link into them from the blog area on the main website.
What Paul said indicates to me that he regrets not getting an even better deal. They could have dickered a bit more for what they got, given the economy at the time. Auto Sales were 'tanked'.
Now auto sales are up, it may be good to now have a supply of equipment that industry uses.

Good point AriLea.

Also do not forget the deal for the equipment was made in the fall of 2012 before it was announced publicly at the very beginning of 2013. So it has now been close to 30 months since the price was worked on.

Don't ever think I hold you in any contempt, you are skeptical, emotional and earnest, I like all that. But I do like to dance on the issues you bring up. Don't want to ever see you stop that either.

'SO' :) , by definition, PR is the art of lying but making it OK.
Jerome has to, and must, tote the official line until that line is officially re-set.
On Saturday, he did say to me, the Gov funding thing could affect the schedule. So did he lie to me, when 'could' should have been 'did'? From a PR standpoint it was actually a big admission. And 'did' is only true when it becomes official, and official is only as of the moment Paul let it lose.

Everyone is very upset with this delay. Even me. It doesn't justify the explosive accusations we seen. It also doesn't say we should be polly-anna about it either.

I still want my Elios. Desperately, I could use them right this moment. I'm thinking strongly about taking another to fill out the inventory for all the 'butts' I need to put in them. With the delay, there is the chance this new reservation would avoid an even longer wait.
Thank you for the prelude. I, like you, attempt to be civil.
Here's the scenario that I don't like. Say Jerome (or the FB moderator) KNOWS that within a few days, Mr. Elio is going to announce a delay of production start until 2016. Someone asks him, "When will these start production?"
If he answers "We are on schedule to begin production in 2015.", that is a lie.
Now, that being said, I agree that "PR is the art of lying but making it OK". I hate to lie and I hate to be lied to. (It's one of the top ten no-no's in Scripture!)
So I couldn't be a PR guy and I guess that anyone that has to lie for a living, well, let's just say it's a shame to have to have people like that.

Equipment isn't the holdup for NO production. It's Paul and Not enough Backers.
Didn't Paul say a FEW times that they could go without the federal loan. Another lie or what?

Name calling AriLea??? I think you have your head in the clouds myself and are an idiot for your lack of preception.
Well of course you do. Yes you got me on that name thing. But I don't think you want to take a mutually comparative tally on that. And not on the attempts at character assassination either.

Kind of a relief to me in a way.:) It gives me another 6+ months to get my new-and-improved Mega-garage [a.k.a. - Taj Ma Garage] built. Can't have her sitting out in the Midwest elements, and had no available space to put her right now.

I can see some people are VERY upset, so I'll keep my "no big deal" comments to myself.

I am unable to find a link to the eBay listings on the blog. Can someone provide a link (to the listings, not the blog)?

From a pure PR perspective, Paul should not have made the statement about overpaying. It serves no purpose (at this point) and raises questions from potential investors (or loan providers).

To all those screaming con, fraud, bankruptcy: get a grip. Yes/no do/don't on/off decisions aren't made instantaneously. Factors changes, pressures build, deadlines loom, and decisions are eventually announced. You seem to think that because you weren't privy to every day's arguments and every day's data and every day's discussion, you have been fooled. If you had been a fly on the wall, you'd have complained about dithering and indecision and waffling. You will never be satisfied with anything anyone else does, yet look at your own life and ask yourself how many decisions you put off, how many announcements you made.

Married? Did it happen out of the blue? If you popped the question, did your future spouse complain and ask why you didn't make the decision sooner?

Own a house, rent an apartment? Were those decisions instantaneous and with full disclosure?

Work for somebody? Did you whine during the interview that the job posting should have been posted sooner? When they made you an offer, did you whine that they should have made it the instant the interview was over and skipped all the other candidates?

Give me a break. Go whine somewhere else.

Even if they sell all the surplus equipment, that would only bring in maybe ten million. Where do you get the other two hundred thirty million? Even if the government loan were approved, it wouldn't cover the difference. What I find worse than being deceived by Elio Motors, is listening to the humility of the naysayers gloating over a mutual loss. Time for me to take a break from this forum for awhile

I'm going to be nearly 71 by the time the Elio rolls out on time. It it rolls out any later I don't know if I'll be able to drive, let alone afford a new car, even a cheapie. In the meantime my aging and increasingly thirsty Subaru keeps sucking in dollars. The longer I have to keep it running, the worse for me.

When I signed up for Elio, I thought, gee, I can go a year. Now it will be 2.25 years or more ... and I'm not sure I can get by til then. Or even live til then. So yes, this news is very disappointing on a personal level.

But in another sense, it doesn't change a thing. I think the Elio is very important in a variety of ways, all worth supporting whether or not I ever get my car. It is important socially. If it succeeds, it may even help us see that moderation and efficiency are OK, and that we don't have to be owned by enormous vehicles all the time. It will create jobs, not just for the Elio folks, but for the people who can suddenly afford distant commutes. It will put more money into the economy by reducing the amount spent keeping klunkers going. It reduces our carbon footprint and our dependence on oil.

These are reasons to keep cheering for Elio, not screaming "fraud, fraud." That's just having a public tantrum because you're disappointed, and accomplishes nothing.

Yes, this is a setback. But I sure wouldn't call it intentional fraud.
