In your opinion

With the first (bleeding edge) Elios being probably 12+ months away to provide the facts of hard user experience, plus a paucity of facts from EM, opinion is just about all we have.

The FACT is that if the Elio doesn't get $150M+ from investors, there won't be an Elio.

Faith and believing and wishful thinking are fun but useless to Elio, unless all that faith produced 150K+ of "all in" $1000 believers. Seems like Elio is missing about 140K short of the $1000 believers.

A real risk is the the first 1000 Elios having some serious quality, performance, safety problems, which would be amplified from perhaps tiny, even quickly solved/recalled, problems into a major catastrophe as told by the schadenfreude-driven media.

While Uber is talking about raising ANOTHER $B, indicating that there are investors' many $Bs looking for projects, EM can't seem to snag its first $200M.

I really doubt Elio will ever pay $7.5M in fines to the Parish. If EM fails, it will mean bankruptcy, with everybody, like the Parish, taking serious haircuts, down to losing every penny.

Satx - maybe you missed my point. My point simply put is that $1000 might not be enough of a commitment on our parts to move this past the tipping point. Hope it will be, but it might not be, so I was bringing up the idea that a FULL ALL IN by some, most or all of the $1000 holders might indeed change the dynamics of this project - or - it might not. I was putting this out as food for thought. I certainly understand the math involved under the present financial calculus, just wondering what others thought about the idea of changing some variables within those calculations.

"a FULL ALL IN"

I want to see those that are willing to pay all up front for a dream. Not trying to hurt anyone feelings but a dumb idea and not a smart business move. If the engine was for REAL and we could have seen it on the 6th. and if production was to start Sept. 1st 2015 then you would have some willing to pay up front. Not now.
