The mirror viewing angle will probably be wider than when I drew this. I don't think seeing behind will be an issue. As for the sides, the driver is surrounded by glass windows and will have a lot of visibility. I doubt that the backup camera will be able to be used as a rear-view camera while driving forward.

Has USB port/power port been covered? My 94 truck has a cigarette lighter. I never used it as that, but once I got my Iphone I use it all the time (with a USB plug) to charge my Iphone. Will the elio have a charge port?

It better!. I have heard three power ports. I'd like at least one to be connected directly to the battery for 'always hot' charging, but that mey be too much to ask...

The three charge ports information is correct as we know it direct from Elio Motors way back in Tech Talk V5. These ports are listed as possibly included in the base price but not guaranteed at this point:

Thanks. Will check out the links. Really glad about the charge ports. I was worried about that, as the iPhone really drinks down the juice, specially if location services are used.

Think about one of the big car companies. They have an assembly line. The main branch is the base vehicle. Any time the car has to break away from the main branch, it causes a delay. So to offer three packages, with four options in each package, the car only has to break from the main branch three times for a possible 12 options. If they were all individual, the car would break away 12 different times. That doesn't seem cost effective to me.
So while I do believe that all of the options are going to be offered individually by Elio, and not a package, I do think that overall, that will add cost and time to production and that will be passed on to the consumer.
Just my thoughts...

This graphic might be an exaggeration, but it pretty well shows why you shouldn't (at least in a regular car) adjust your mirrors so that you can see the sides of your car.

Here's your visibility:

Anywhere you have overlap is wasted visibility. In front of you, it's free - but visibility behind you is a limited resource.
If you can see it in one mirror, you don't need it in the other. This is more of an issue with regular cars, because having your side mirrors overlap AND have that area covered with the rearview mirror is silly. Why do you need to see the car behind you in 3 mirrors at the same time?
Adjusting mirrors outwards allows you to minimize blind spots which in the above graphic are huge.

Here's an excellent graphic that describes how mirrors should be aimed. I made the switch myself a few months back and it's much better. Though it takes some getting used to. You actually have to use your mirrors - and the correct ones, since they're not redundant anymore.

when towing our camper, the truck's inside mirror is useless .... given that the truck's outside mirrors are much larger but the fact remains that they have to be adjusted so as to give maximum viewing area and minimize blind spots .... the same will be true with the outside mirrors of an Elio .... I don't expect the OEM Elio mirrors will be very large so precise adjustment will be important
