If they use the Suzuki Celerio trans as speculated, the top engine in that car makes 97nm torque.
I looked up a Tier 4 Kubota D1803, about the size you mentioned. Its 49hp and 150nm (about 120ft lb) torque. Even if the trans will take the torque, its gotta be re geared for the lower speed...
Stuart, price check in the diesel aisle.
Better at least triple your $1500 guess, likely more.
Also gonna need a trans upgrade to handle the extra torque. More weight and $.
Don't get me wrong, Im not against an OPTION for diesel, it just doesnt make sense to me.
Weather and weight do most of the highway damage. Weather we can't control. Paying based on GVW x miles traveled would be the best route, IMO.
At 1800? GVW an elio would come out pretty well too.
Ouch, man! Times are a little tough right now over in titletown, hope they turn it around soon.
JEBar, as long as they're visible while looking forward, (sounds like they are) it doesn't matter if they're visible in the windshield or the side windows.
Truth is, you'll adapt quickly. Countless...
I haven't sat in one, so take this with a grain of salt, but it should be no worse than any car's A pillar, just that the right side one will be much closer.
One more Elio benefit. A $20 bill will get you the "cash price" for about 500 miles worth of fuel.
Sad but true: the vending machines where I work take CCs now. Yes, you can charge a gut bomb sandwich, for 10 cents extra...
I saw my first Slingshot on the road today. No pics as I was driving.
My impressions: very low, very wide, and pretty Batmobile looking in general.
Hard to say if it was one of the first public models or a test machine, as Polaris has an R&D center near where I saw it.
For you non-northerners, Ski-Doo came out with the electronic reverse on 2 stroke snowmobiles years ago. It would tweak the ignition timing so the motor stalled and restarted backward. Much nicer than a yank backwards by hand, and no added weight from a gearbox.
Old Detroit Diesel 2 strokes...
Slanted survey. As I read it, the walking and driving surveys were taken in different areas all together.
Hatred of motor vehicles at its root.
Feel free to protect yourself from everything. Let me know how bubble living is.
True. I've said before, I am a hands on guy. Yes, I want one. No, I'm not reserving one until I see, and more importantly drive one.
Yes, it will cost me in terms of savings and a longer wait, but I'm OK with that.
I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to see the progress over the next couple minths...
As a union member, I'm embarrassed by many of the remarks here.
At my plant, all they do is defend those who should be disciplined/canned and take the rest of the members' money to do it with. (Well that and support a certain political party, but thats not a discussion for here.)
Modern gas stations dont make much more than that per gallon today. Where they get ya is inside.
I started paying at the pump whenever possible a few years ago, saves me a few $ every stop.
Heard of it? If I lived a couple miles east of here, I'd have an Amery address. Horse Creek area here.
I drive to Blaine every day, hence the urge for an Elio.
Put the buttons wherever, I'll learn em. The only controls on my current wheels are horn buttons.
Missle launch switch NEEDS to be on the shift lever though!
The main Prius stereotype I have is that they're the slowest things on the road. On a good day I can pass one on a farm tractor.
I do NOT intend to propagate anything similar in an Elio.
