Potentially. Depending on circumstances, your insurance carrier may opt to not honor collision coverage for damage to your vehicle. Even if they won't honor liability, most homeowners have their house covered by the same company, so their personal liability would then cover it. So the ins...
Not true. The mfg company has no liability except in cases of mfg defects. It's your responsibility as the operator to know the limitations of the vehicle you are in control of.
A garage with a big, hungry dog as an occupant.
Thieves are gonna thieve, and an unoccupied 1200lb vehicle is going to be easy to grab. You won't see sophisticated anti-theft systems like BMW, Audi or Saab incorporate into their electrical systems on the Elio. An aftermarket alarm system with...
(Playing Devil's Advocate - NOPE - I've never played one on TV, and I haven't stayed at a Holiday Inn Express recently)
Is it still a benefit if you are then spun away from the initial impact at some rate of acceleration into other lanes of moving traffic?
I wonder if it would be possible to integrate an escape hatch into the windshield. My GMC motorhome has a pull-string in the rear window seal. If you need emergency rear egress, pull the string, push the window out.
I'm sure it's a legal/safety issue for cars, but Elio isn't restricted to...
The safety issue has come up many times before. If a ~1500lb vehicle gets clobbered by a 4000-4500lb SUV, game over. The SUV wins. Even with a "5-Star Rating". Even with three airbags. Even with an extended roofline. Can't escape physics. The impact force transferred to the body will be...
A turbocharged engine with a proper tune in many cases will yield improved fuel economy. My Saab nets better fuel economy with the Stage 2 tune compared to the factory tune (34mpg hwy vs 32mpg hwy) while yielding an increase of 50hp/65tq over stock ratings. It can also yield much lower fuel...
Please provide links to threads where I've said I want a kit, convertible, 4 wheel drive, etc. I will gladly opt for a turbo if offered as a factory option.
Check your claims/facts prior to sticking your foot in your mouth.
If your posting was a copy of an email you sent to Elio Motors, it should have been noted as such to clarify. As written, you are directing your complaint at the forum, which has no affiliation with EM, therefore no way to provide an answer that satisfies your whining.
Please explain...
Why post this here? To my knowledge, this site is not officially affiliated with Elio Motors. You'll have a much better chance of getting a response from Elio Motors if you address the question to them directly.
I can't see two front doors being any benefit at all. Just wasted engineering and development capital. Only takes a second to pull a Dukes of Hazzard across the 1/2 width hood if you need quick entry when you're being chased.
Now a 2nd door, similar to the RX8 and some of the Saturn...
2000 ZX9R, nicely modified ;); 160hp to the wheel, ~375lbs (slightly lightened); rider not figured into ratio. Miss it. :(
I'm toying with the idea of a BMW K1200S. :)
Is this a Euro/metric power to weight ratio? I've always seen the power ratio expressed as lbs/hp.
Elio yields 21.82lbs/hp (1200lbs/55hp). Not a very impressive number, but not bad considering the class.
Cars of the 60s/70s with </= 10lbs/hp are considered muscle cars. My sport bikes have...
This was covered in some detail in another thread. The information was that the panels are stamped/vacuum formed composite, but they would be painted as the colored composite finish is poor compared to a standard painted finish.
