Why sabotage the Elio's reliability with an HD motor? Lots of better choices for powerplants that produce ~120hp/90tq and have much greater reliability than an HD motor. And, since a V-Rod is rated to yield a mere 37mpg combined, it would yield lower economy in the Elio, which is ~twice the...
If based on automotive standards/requirements, it'll be OBDII-CAN, and will be required to have the OBDII port near the steering column, just like every other OBDII-based car on the road.
This has been brought up in several threads already. Do we really need another???
Why would they pay a referral fee now? Lots of people are already spreading the word for FREE. Referral fees are generally a good idea if a product needs more exposure. Word-of-mouth is a good way to accomplish...
Nice find!
Would be great if they utilized a Continental LCD instrument cluster as well:

Window tint will follow automotive regs. If you don't need an MC license and helmet, you don't get the MC tint regs.
Boiled down, tint regs are for civil servant safety. They can easily see you reaching for a weapon on a motorcycle, not so much in a car, or an Elio.
My guess is they'll offer a 'sport' or 'limited edition' version which will include a good portion of the popular factory options. They'll make bank on the optioned models, and my guess is they'd sell more of the optioned models than the base model.
Not sure where you've seen the Elio reported as 850lbs, every data set I've seen lists it around 1250, and currently the engine is slated to make 55hp.
The NHTSA awards the rating, there is no way of knowing the rating until they purchase vehicles and test them. Prior crash/destructive testing can provide data to make an educated guess as to the potential rating, and is done to ensure the vehicle is 'safe' and meets the federal requirements...
1. Because most people are stupid ( I don't mean uneducated, I mean STUPID), moderately functional buffoons who may be impressed enough by a new t-shirt displayed on social media to think 'These guys are movin' forward! I gotta get on board!'. This is a good marketing strategy based on the...
E85 could be worthwhile from a resource and economic perspective IF the production switched from using corn to hemp. Hemp yields 50x the ethanol compared to corn.
Hmmm .... not good for use with carbs or fuel injection ..... so it only works well if you pour it from a can straight into the intake runners????
Mirrors with integrated blind spot glass would be great for the inside part of both mirrors. May be the only way to get decent views to the side and rear.
