I remember seeing a rumor about the flame spray perhaps not being used? Or that the prototype engine was in fact using lined cylinders? I suppose no one knows yet which is going to be on the final engine? Any newer info on these questions?
Either way I'm sure the engineers will know what...
The Elio would likely be my primary vehicle, with the occasional need for a larger one. But for the most part I'll be able to do everything I'd normally do with it. Mostly drive a little around town and maybe use it as a work car. But I do hope that with it I can plan on making more road...
Probably because of this poll's current statistic. But it certainly isn't a scientific poll. On the other hand, I don't find it unreasonable to believe the majority of people are unenthusiastic about the Elgin-inspired dash. Some more vehemently than others, obviously.
I'm somewhat confused by the classifications and all. It seems a bit odd to promote the fact that the Elio is classed as a motorcycle at the federal level, while simultaneously promoting the creation of a new class, the autocycle. Does all of the autocycle legislation promote open autocycle...
Not to go too far off-topic, but is that rendering's steering wheel illustrate what the final steering wheel is planned to look like or is that just a placeholder?
While I agree with that, as has been mentioned by Goofyone, these numbers on this prototype are actually in km/h not mph, as such the spacing and exact size of the numbers is definitely not set in stone and I'd wager is likely to change for the better.
So I see the highbeam indicator, what then might that upper-center indentation be? Curious. I wonder if the fuel indicator might turn red if it's running low? In addition to the "low fuel" light?
I really like your approach as well. Many great points :) Citroen has quite the history with oddball car features. Really it is a good thing, but they've since kinda lost that.
I can't think of anything more quirky than the ones you had in your post, so I'll just show a couple fairly radical...
Coincidentally all of my vehicles have had their gas caps on the passenger i.e. right side. So the Elio could have it wherever and I wouldn't mind. With the great gas mileage and resulting infrequent gas stops, does it really matter?
Thanks for the informative reply. I can see how it'd be reasonable to decline a warranty claim for problems potentially caused by towing things with the Elio. Hopefully that would be the case, rather than voiding the entire warranty. I'm not sure how the legal situation would work out either...
I didn't hear that towing would void the warranty  That's pretty unfortunate. I understand not being liable for any accidents but voiding the entire 3 year/36,000 mile warranty seems extreme. I do like the idea of attaching a very small trailer for those times when you need to carry just...
I'm sorry I should've clarified that I meant the little LCD display on the bottom-center, where they suspect things like speed will be displayed (among other things?) digitally.
Yes if I could simply swap the Elgin with these (maybe even with some wiring) I'd be pretty happy to do so. Though I do like the little LCD display the Elgin's planned to have.
Overall I think these great pictures that have been posted have lessened my personal dislike of the design, so thanks...
Pretty sure I've seen a video of a chainsaw with a V8 for that purpose, actually. Haha. And I'd definitely watch such a race. I think the low cost (pre-modification) of an Elio may very well attract a fair share of racing enthusiasts.
As I understood it, it'll be pretty much a factory-only option. Whether you could bolt on some parts to convert a manual to an automatic later seems unlikely, but I don't know. Probably someone would have a better idea than me. Either way it'd probably be far more efficient to choose either a...
