Every 6 weeks or so, I take a 150 mile trip down 95 and cruise is great for that kind of a drive. Otherwise, for me it will be a commuter and "around town" car. If I need GPS or internet, I have a smartphone.

I once thought I wanted GPS until I went to Google Earth and entered my (physical) street address.
I looked at the results and found myself in a dry wash in the middle of a cedar break about 2 or 3 miles from my house.
So much for GPS!

JEBar, My Elio will have AMT for the same reasons as yours.

Congratulations on reaching your 3006th message. I have been second only to Zelio as a notable member for more than nine months but have now been displaced to number three behind you (GoofyOne doesn't count because he is staff). Have enjoyed your posts, humor, facts civility, and travel logs. Thanks for keeping the forum interesting and informative..........Jim

Now let me see..... I'll want a cd player...doesn't have to be with a changer. No cruise control, just never used 'em. Got my own GPS and back up camera. So now all I'll need is my kids and grandkids, whom I've put thru college and ate beans for to now PAY FOR MY ELIO!! THEY OWE ME!!
Do they even still make CDs?

Fewer and fewer as the hordes raised on MP3 compression aren't aware of the far better fidelity you get on a CD. Any more than they're aware of the grace and subtlety you can achieve with a masterful print of a photograph, impossible on a computer screen.

My son's employer changed offices. When I tried to pick him up, I followed Google navigation. It told me my destination was on I-95 in between 2 exits.

Maybe GPS would have worked better than Google Earth. Having said that, GPS will occasionally take you the wrong way, but so will printed maps.

I use GPS all the time for traffic and such.
One of these days I'm expecting the little voice in the box to say "Really? You should know this one by now!"

True, but CDs are only slightly more car friendly than taking all of my LPs with me. Most car stereos (certainly the one they end up putting in the Elio) don't have the resolution to hear the difference between a CD and a decent MP3. There were issues early on when people were ripping their own MP3s with stand alone software. Just like dummies with digital cameras, people would turn down th settings so that they could fit more music on their drive.

When I want to really enjoy my music, I drop a high quality LP on the turntable and let electron valves amplify the signal going to my speakers. Panasonic does make a double din car stereo with tube preamplification... :D

The music I listen to doesn't need to sound good. Just needs to be heard. (sigh)

GPS will only be as accurate as the maps that are fed into it. Typically from the USC&GS unless there is something newer. If the underlying maps haven't been updated GIGO applies. Just like WAC and Sectional Charts.
