Elio Addict
I know my son-in-law spends more on a amp than the cost of the Elio, and one of his greatest concerns is vibrations, so why would you place a tube unit in a car?, and then you get into the speakers, and the pre-amp, and and and- his system takes a footprint larger than the e, and I can't even appreciate the difference between my iPod and his setup!, Hey it makes him happy, and my daughter's cool with it so I'm happy too!!True, but CDs are only slightly more car friendly than taking all of my LPs with me. Most car stereos (certainly the one they end up putting in the Elio) don't have the resolution to hear the difference between a CD and a decent MP3. There were issues early on when people were ripping their own MP3s with stand alone software. Just like dummies with digital cameras, people would turn down th settings so that they could fit more music on their drive.
When I want to really enjoy my music, I drop a high quality LP on the turntable and let electron valves amplify the signal going to my speakers. Panasonic does make a double din car stereo with tube preamplification...
