Well, it's a done deal... I've taken the final step to becoming an owner of one of these neat little vehicles! I've spent a fair amount of time over the years commuting on bikes of various sizes, both in all types of weather, and as I've gotten older, trading the bike for a small car on the nasty days. I look forward to being able to drive or ride interchangeably at the same (or better) fuel mileage while protected from the weather. It will make those days that I choose to ride the bike more enjoyable, knowing that it was my option to do so as opposed to really needing to do it to get by on the month's remaining budget!
My name is Don, and I'm an amateur radio operator (license/callsign is NN4S) and a lab instructor at a local community college in the machine tool program. I support both the manual and CNC labs, though I spend the majority of my time in the CNC lab with the second-year students in our program. While I used to have a lot of time for playing with and working on vehicles, it just doesn't appeal to me as much as it used to. When the gas prices climbed above $1.50 a gallon, my enjoyment of driving, riding, and general motorsport use started to wane. At the current rates above $3 a gallon, I do what I can to plan my trips for the least fuel usage and don't just drive for enjoyment any more. Maybe my new Elio will help change this, but at least it will help to stretch my teaching salary a good bit further... something that can't help but bring a smile to my face!!!
