Too bad the nearest Elio dealership will be even further than the nearest Pep Boys. That plan probably only takes them from 90% coverage to 91% coverage. I see it as more of a feel good measure than an actual resolution to the issue.

That's an idea. I'm going the route of simply not buying one until I know that the issue is resolved. One thing that I think gets glossed over in the conversation is that we are essentially buying a prototype. I'd probably put more miles on one in my first year of ownership than they are going to log between all of their prototypes before they go to market. I usually don't buy first generation of a new technology simply because all the bugs need to be worked out. If I know that there is going to be somewhere in my town to get warranty repairs done, I'll go ahead and make an exception to that rule for this car. But not if I can't guarantee that when this thing breaks down, there will be someplace nearby to take it.

If you are not, how far are you and how far are you to an EM Showroom?
I'm not putting down PBs quality of service only lack of locations.
I'm only pushing my reasoning for having a reimbursement program from any shop anywhere for repairs not preventative maintenance.

I'm 50 miles from my closest Pep Boys, about 150 miles from the closest show room, and 150 miles in the opposite direction from the Elio factory.

There used to be a Pep Boys here in town but it went out of business and was replaced by Auto Zone.
The nearest Pep Boys is about 110 miles from here.
Which begs the question can my own mechanic service the car or will it void the warranty?
