Many people reserving Elios are older people and this is who will be seen driving the first 50K Elios around--older people.

This may be bad. This may give it the "stigma" (in young people's eyes) of being and old person's vehicle. And young people do not want to be associated with anything old. They would be embarrassed to be seen driving an Elio.

Remember, first impressions are lasting impressions.

Elio Motors will have to do some expensive PR advertising to create the proper image in young people's mind.

It mighty work that way.

On the other hand, mostly old people bought the original three wheelers like the slingshot yet it still attracts lots of younger folks.

The other thing that the elio has going for it is cost. People that need cheap transportation won't care if old or young people are driving an elio. They will care less about image and more about having safe, affordable, and yes, new with warranty transportation.

I have a niece that will be graduating from college this spring. For almost two years, she, my brother, and the rest of the family couldn't understand my zeal for the elio. However, now that she is looking at trying to survive after college with debt and unknown job she listens intently to the $6800 price and 84 mpg. She sees that her older brother's used car cost about the same, is old with no warranty and requires maintenance due to its age, and doesn't get nearly as good of mileage as an elio. She would definitely buy an elio if it were available even though her old fart uncle will be driving one.

It might just skip a generation. My 9 Y.O. son loves the Elio. He can't wait to be picked up from school in it.:)
