Corbin Motors Merlin

I really wanted a corbin Merlin. That and the sparrow are what got me interested in the 3-wheel car in the first place. Too bad that never materialized. But then again, if I had purchased one of those, I probably wouldn't be in the market for an Elio!

ChuckP, welcome to the forum. Obviously you are a fan of three-wheelers and the Elio. There are many posts here on other three wheeled vehicles and I would encourage you to look at them. Corbin Motors had a three wheel car called the Merlin. It was really neat looking, IMO. It is a shame nothing came of it. Three Wheelers.

Sparrow relied on 13 Optima Batteries under the seat for ballast !

the first 35 had skinny 16" tires with 80# pressure to reduce rolling resistance

they rolled right over !

the next 250 had 165/55 -13" tires much better but reduced range

Sparrow was designed to be able to perpendicular park, so the length was under 8'

three Sparrows in one parking space

I still have three Sparrows, all gutted and just sitting in Storage

damn shame …

Like I have said, I would GLADLY put down 100% for the PaulElioMobile if it were 100% refundable ! It will take a little time for the public to accept it out there on the highways, but it will (CSN) happen !

In the original plan I think the Corbin was designed to be powered by either a V-Twin mounted transverse or Electric; am I right??? He did have running models didn't he; I think I remember
even seeing pictures of them running??

I love the crazy colors but they definitely look tiny. They make the Elio look like a big car. They are definitely a city commute car. I would risk not making it home from the pool if I drove one and had to run an errand. :-) Z
