I use USB to tie my Garmin to the computer then via the web download new maps about once a quarter. No problem.

I have a Tom Tom that I used quite a bit. My truck has the GPS navigation which is really nice as it turns down the music when it is giving me directions. When I'm using my phone to navigate, it does also (my wife's car doesn't have Navigation) if I use Google maps but not if I use Waze. That one requires me to keep it down if I want to hear that little phone speaker...

On the current P4 they have two (one 12Vdc, one USB) on the dash (below the radio), and One 12Vdc in the rear (right side).

Also Garmin sends out update alerts by email linked.....& desk top app handles most issues as well........

I update my Garmin several times a year and I am very happy with it. It will work just fine in my Elio for those longer trips

Cockpit of course! The only thing that's Going to keep me from feeling like Luke Skywalker in his X-Wing is the lack of an R2-D2 option.

You could probably have a wrap made in the Star Wars style... Your R2 unit would have to ride in a trailer.
