I wouldn't be surprised..
From the casino's perspective you have a group of people, primarily with excess cash - who were willing to put money down on a car that didn't exist on the chance that it gets made.

Sounds like exactly the sort of folks who they'd want in their casino.
I think you are right on the mark, Charlie G. :-) Z

Since I live less than 300 miles from Shreveport I'll probably get a friend to cart me up there... Or maybe catch a one way on the "Hound"... Only $20 if you web buy in advance... Only problem would be getting from the Bus station to the plant... There's probably someone there at the plant that can pick me up if I give advance notice I'm coming... Then take a tour of the facility, do the paperwork, and head out for my first road trip! Yeah baby!!!:D

I would like to pick mine up at the factory too, it is less than a tank of gas away at around 450 miles. It would be worth the $240 plane ticket.

I'm not betting on any free stays at a Casino...
I've stayed in some very nice casinos in Laughlin, NV for $10 a night with free evening buffet and breakfast, and tickets to their floor shows. If they think you have money or are on a one-time adventure they are very accommodating. They make their money on the tables and the slot machines and not from the hotel.

For me, it's an 850 mile drive or a $350 flight (but who knows how much a year from now). There's no easy bus service from Cinci to Shreveport, either. So going to pick up the car is probably not going to work for me. Dammit.

I just hope that for those planning on picking up their cars and driving 500 miles or so, that the break-in period doesn't really mean the break-down period! Just make sure you route via Pep Boys every 25 miles of so....
