THIS IS WHERE TWO ROADS MERGE AND I CAME IN ON THE LEFT ONE .
I WAS WAITING FOR TRAFFIC TO CLEAR ON THE RIGHT BEFORE GETTING OVER .

This all factory HMV (High Mileage Vehicle) Freeway was made in Minnesota in 1981 as part of an enterprise to prove 100mpg was possible and practical. Unfortunately insufficient startup funding combined with falling gas prices bankrupted the operation after making around 700.

This is my fear of Elio. At my work picnic a guy commented on my Elio shirt saying he isn't a reservation holder, but is hoping it comes out as it is ideal for his commute each day. So with folks like him, hopefully what happened with HMV won't happen with Elio. Only time will tell.

HMV HAS SOME SERIOUS PROBLEMS .

THE CAR WAS POORLY ENGINEERED , POORLY DESIGNED AND POORLY BUILT .
AT $3500 , YOU COULD DRIVE A NEW 1981 TOYOTA OFF THE LOT FOR THE SAME PRICE .

DAVE EDMONSON WHO BUILT THE CAR WAS NOT A GOOD BUSINESS MAN .
HE ACTUALLY TURNED AWAY BUSINESS WITH THE PROMISE OF A REVERSE
GEAR THAT NEVER MATERIALIZED .

UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES FOR 700 CARS TO BE BUILT & SOLD IS PRETTY REMARKABLE .

EVEN WITH ALL OF IT's SHORTCOMINGS & HIGH PRICE , WHAT REALLY SOLD THE FREEWAY
WAS IT's REMARKABLE CONCEPT . THE HIGH EFFICIENCY 3 WHEEL COMMUTER CAR .

I HAVE LONG HELD THAT DONE RIGHT , THIS COULD BE A BIG WINNER OF NOT A WORLD CHANGER .
FOR MANY YEARS I HAVE WANTED TO SEE MODERN TECHNOLOGY ALONG WITH GOOD
SAFETY FEATURES & CREATURE COMFORT IN AN AUTOCYCLE PACKAGE .

THE FREEWAY WAS FUN BUT IT WAS JUST A TOY .
FROM WHAT I CAN SEE , ELIO IS DOING EVERYTHING RIGHT THAT HMV GOT WRONG .
IF THEY CAN MAKE IT TO PRODUCTION , I KNOW IT WILL BE A HUGE SUCCESS .

Wife and I got to see it in Rome, Ga. last fall. Like Baldguy, I will was convinced enough to buy one anyway, but thought my wife needed a little more convincing. After we saw and sat in it, she was on board. We went all-in at that air show.

Jacksonville P4 drove 300m up/300 back- was worth every mile
West Palm Beach P4 drove 8 miles up 8 miles back was worth every mile again!!
It's amazing to me, after all the meets and greets the staff serves like they just finished training and were out in the public for the first time.
Just listening to first timers I'd suggest what Idid when traveling with my kids when they were young- had index cards written up with
"not yet"
"we'll stop in 1 hr"
"leave your sister alone" etc

"one door"
"not a motorcycle"
"yes 84mpg"
my fav, (but disheartening ) "no it doesn't come in yellow"
