If an outside source wants to jump through the hoops, they can be recognized as a warranty repair.
Estimate the job, call and get authorization, and a warranty repair #, do the work to spec (as detailed by EM) and then apply to Elio for reimbursement.
But how many repair shops are willing to do that?
Now they could charge you (the shop) and you send that to EM for reimbursement is more likely.

My suspicion is that warranty service is a hybrid situation where areas within a certain distance of Pep Boys are exclusive, but outside of that are not or are "franchised" to other shops, either as exclusive or not for their area.

I think I recall the statement that Pep Boys would work out the details where they had no stores. So that option may rest with Pep Boys rather than Elio if that was part of the original agreement with Elio.

I was under the impression that the Elio is meant to be a fairly simple vehicle. So it should be fairly easy to do maintenance on right? Would it be a good vehicle to learn on for maintaining cars?

I doubt it. If it is designed to meet current emissions standards, then its engine is just as complicated as any other engine.

I wish the Elio engine was as simple as in "the old days".

I'm not so sure............I'm looking at the engine (pics) of the engine installed on the P5 and I don't see a lot of emission controls.

Perhaps as an "autocycle" they can get away with MC emission standards ???

IF so, then this engine would be great to learn on !!! :)
