I'm not so sure............I'm looking at the engine (pics) of the engine installed on the P5 and I don't see a lot of emission controls.

Perhaps as an "autocycle" they can get away with MC emission standards ???

IF so, then this engine would be great to learn on !!! :)

What kind of controls do you want to see?
Sure don't want to see the old smog pumps come back again.
And are catalytic converters still necessary? Or are they still there 'cause the bureaucrats find it's easier to keep an obsolete rule than to get rid of it?

I bet it will have a catalytic converter or two, maybe a small one in the pipes like motorcycles use. I am thinking autocycles will fall under the same emissions testing category as motorcycles.

And a PCV valve. Bikes already recycle crankcase vapors so I would be shocked if the Elio did not run a PCV system.

In localities where Pep Boys is not available, EM is going to arrange other service centers.

I wonder if EM would have a problem with someone having service work done at one of these other service centers, even though a Pep Boys is very close to where they live.

EM has not talked about the Service after Delivery lately.
I don't think it's a front burner item at this time; they just want to get started building them first.

But with Pep Boys, they are supposed to have training on the Elio for the Pep Boys mechanics; at least one from each shop.
If you take it somewhere else; if they want to operate like other auto builders have done, you would pay for the repair; and submit it for reimbursement.
If it's a major job (like replacing a motor) I would think that they have to have some type of pre-authorization you would have to have the shop contact them for something like an RMA number, or you can get stuck being responsible for the bill.

This is an area the EM is going to have to have figured out before the Elio's start rolling out the door; and I'm pretty sure they will.
But for now; the only thing we know for sure is (and even this is subject to change) Pep Boys is to be the service centers for factory service on the Elio's.
