I ain't good at math but you're only talking about the consumer's (that's us) perspective - so let's just assume for a minute that your calculation was right- 499 million cost- now the investors are looking at this like hhhmmmm, 499 million in debt, now we're going to sell this at this measly price of $7,400, how long would it take us to get our initial investment let alone starts seeing a profit??? You've got to realize Booboo, this is business venture.
$499,000,000 divided by $1,000 profit per vehicle equals 499,000 vehicles.
At 250,000 vehicles produced per year, it takes 1.99 years to pay off the initial investment and start showing a profit.
Than it is 250,000 vehicles per year, producing $1,000 profit (each) per year, for a total of $250,000,000 profit per year.
Is my math wrong? I have been known to make mistakes.

Elio has said they plan on a 1K profit/Elio.
If I loaned them 1/2 a billion, I would barter for around 1/2 that until even. 500/Elio.
500,000,000 / 500 = 1 million Elio's
500,000 motorcycles are sold each year.
So let's just say for fun, that's how many Elio's will sell each year.
500,000 X 500 = 250,000,000 a year.
I get all my money back in 2 years and now am an integral part of ElioMotors ?
And just to get your money back, before you see a dime of profit on your half billion investment...
EM will have to both produce and sell a million vehicles. Period.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why no-one in their right mind is jumping up to invest $380M to $499M in Elio Motors at this point.

Have you ever owned a business for any length of time pistonboy?
We who have can't even count the times we've wished it were that simple.

Sales for 2016 set a record of 17.6 million cars and trucks, a slight increase over the17.5 million vehicles sold the year before, according to figures from sales tracker Autodata.Jan 4, 2017

Elio has already almost sold 65,000. A million is really not far fetched at all.
I bet they will sell as fast as they are made. There is a pent up demand for something new, that is safe, thrifty, and cool.
Is waiting a few years to to get your big money back so bad these days?
Flat yield curves everywhere!
Figure what? Maybe a decade to double your money?
Sounds pretty good to me.

Then again, a pet Hyena sounds good to me too.

Then all is well! Lol. And I seriously agree with you that ELIO will sell like hotcakes for that selling price ($7,400)! I could only wish that investors can be found with your vision. ;)

All it takes is one serious oversight, component issue, scandal or change in government regulations...
Or even just unforseen external circumstances to upset the apple cart on the way to that tough 1 million vehicle count.
Be it EM's fault or not. And serious investors know it.

And all I can say to you guys is that it's easy to have vision when it's OPM. Ask Paul. Oh my god! I can't believe I said that!

Have mercy, I beg of you.

You bring sunshine to overcast days Boo. I see you as the super flag carrier of the Elio Banner, you're a fun read, however your love has limits.
But your blind faith goes far when you could possibly think a jump from 65k to I million is not far fetched.
Is their such a thing as a reverse troll (me smiling)
keep up our spirits, Z is smiling
