Given that the entire front half of the car was destroye,d they may not be able to find out if it was in autopilot mode.

The article, and some others I have read about it, says that the Tesla hit the media barrier, then was hit by two other cars. The articles disagree on whether the other cars hit it before or after it caught fire.

Tesla may never know if the vehicle was driving on AP or not, as in some severe frontal collisions the "black box" is destroyed beyond repair.

What is known is that the driver of the Model X was pulled from the vehicle before the fire started, so it didn't instantaneously burst into flames...the battery pack is designed specifically to keep that from happening. Another known is that the crash mitigation structure hadn't been reset after an accident earlier in the week, so the Model X slammed directly into the concrete median wall. Witness statements seem to indicate that the Model X was traveling at 70+ mph.

I watched The Grand Tour and Richard Hammond crashed an electric car. I believe that they said it took five days to put out the fire. Something like 20,000 cells burned in a chain reaction.
Hammond, you idiot!

(for those who don't know, that's one of the most-used quotes on the show)

Forbes had an interesting article on Tesla today. The author supposedly has sources in the auto industry, including some Tesla suppliers, that claim there is no way Tesla is going to 2,500 Model 3s a week by mid-year.

Apparently Tesla burned $3.5 BILLION in cash last year. That's an almost Uber-level cash burn. Makes you wonder how these companies can keep burning cash at this rate, and still keep going.

Musk has always been a darling of the Wall Street set...and thus Tesla has been considered to be very investable...but that appears to be slowly changing...

The high-end electric car market is about to become very competitive... lots of major manufacturer's jumping in that segment...

No matter what happens...Musk is an amazing entrepreneur!

He’s definitely a trendsetter... and has made a major impact in several different industries!

The Rimac Concept One can do 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds and can recharge in an hour with 300 mile range. If they reduce the price by $900,000 I will get one.
