I have noticed many members who have discussed their service in various threads and wanted to start a thread about this. I know we have members across generations so I thought it would be interesting to hear a little about members service.

From 2000-2004 I served as a 25B Information Technology Specialist in the Army Signal Corps. I served tours in Afghanistan and Iraq where my role was to travel between various Forward Operating Bases and Combat Outposts supporting the technology systems needs including VOIP and internet access capabilities at MWR (Morale, Welfare, and Recreation) centers which allowed personnel to stay in touch with family back home.

US Navy, 1967-1971, Journalist, then Weapons Department when I got tired of being a PR flack. Served aboard the carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR - filthy, dirty, and rusty) CVA-42 toward the end of her career, with over three years at sea, two extended deployments to the Mediterranean. Transferable civilian skills include being qualified as a flight line marshaller at the Lone Star Flight Museum (so far they haven't needed a ordinance loader), and to fire the cannon on the courthouse lawn on the 4th of July. Whoopee.
