Dustoff, my hat off to you. Many a time I was asked to escort (part of a pink team) a dustoff extraction that was hot and you dudes go in there low and slow with only the red cross as your shield. Balls to fill a wheelbarrow we use to say among us scout pilots (the sacrificial lamb)
Rayl,
Thank's, I always thought we went in as fast as we could and still land in the LZ. I was scared to death as was the whole crew. I see you were at Camp Evans. I was with the 236th, Da Nang Dustoff, but flew up near the DMZ a few times when the 571st and 237th were low on choppers. I think the bucket of balls thing was an attribute that all forward guys had to have to survive, air and ground.
Thank you for all the support you gave us. You guys really hung them out to protect our butts. I can remember many a scout bird drawing fire so we could get in.

I was with the Lancers for a couple months B Company 158th Aviation Battalion at Evans. Then being the new guy got transferred to Headquarters aviation platoon after they lost a couple of pilots. Talk about crazy--for a platoon they defined insane. Based at Camp Eagle.
One night the tap on the shoulder at the watering hole. We need a pilot to do some dustoff. So half dusted myself took off into the night--it was crazed--but we got them out.
Personally, I think you Dustoff guys had a ton of angels watching over you- as all medic types on both sides had. Yeah, I think we need a new way of solving issues instead of hurting each other. my 2cents Rayl

I have noticed many members who have discussed their service in various threads and wanted to start a thread about this. I know we have members across generations so I thought it would be interesting to hear a little about members service.

From 2000-2004 I served as a 25B Information Technology Specialist in the Army Signal Corps. I served tours in Afghanistan and Iraq where my role was to travel between various Forward Operating Bases and Combat Outposts supporting the technology systems needs including VOIP and internet access capabilities at MWR (Morale, Welfare, and Recreation) centers which allowed personnel to stay in touch with family back home.
