See what happens when you bad mouth the Seahawks
We just got done with 23 days straight rain (like 14" total) had two dry days, and now the surrounding towns to my place have an inch of snow. It's 39 and that's the warmest it's been in 2 weeks.
OK, I'm done with the weather curses we're both suffering; sorry to hear that the water is getting in your place.

Why not get a second pump or does your sump have enough room for two or just a bigger one?

Just enough room in the sump for one pump, which was just replaced a couple months ago, and the dia. of the outlet pipe can only handle "X" gph. It's doing it's job, it's just that the drain tile that is supposed to direct the ground water to the sump can't keep up and starts seeping up where the basement walls meet the floor. It's only happened twice before in the last 28 years so I suppose I shouldn't complain.

I did hear of all the excess rain, landslides, and general nastiness you guys up in the PNW have been having. Definitely "No fun at all" [as the title of the thread suggests] having to deal with it.

Sorry to hear of the flooding, hope you guys stay as dry as possible and the flood waters recede!

Good idea. 4 hours per shift. Gotta make a run to Lowe's. Noticed some 'dry bearing' sounds coming out of the vacuum when I spin it down to dump the water [hasn't shut off except to dump in better than 30 hours]. Might check the generators while I'm there. A friend of my Sister-in-law's that lives two blocks south of me just had the power killed to her house and was told to evacuate. Got to keep the sump running or I'll be in deep sh*t...maybe literally if the sewer facility looses power!

I remember a show on Rescue my Renovation where a sump pump and a French drain were a total mess. John(host) had it reconstructed correctly. I love watching his show and the good thing he is doing for people being ripped off by contractors(cons). I am hoping you can stem the tide.

The house was built in like '78 by a local guy and some of his buddies, but since everything around me is 100+ years old it's like a brand new Corvette in comparison. Definitely came across some 'highly sketchy' things during remodels over the years, and I'm convinced that the drain tile (French drain?) system would fall in the same category...'sketchy'.

Do you have an escape plan? Or plans for an indoor swimming pool? Don't get caught in the water. I was in Rapid City, South Dakota as a kid when a flood came thru the canyon and took out the town. Very scary. Stay safe. Most everything can be replaced. If you had your Elio I would suggest getting it out now.

It's going to slowly creep our way, so it won't be a "WTF!! Head for the hills!" type thing. Just hoping they don't decide to power down our street like they did a couple blocks south of me. If not for the sump pump, I'd have 6' of water in the basement. If we do lose power I'll be buying a generator ASAP to keep the pump and fridges up and running. If I go down, it's going to be kicking and screaming!;)
