I had 2 flats and one near flat this year when the polar vortex froze all the brine saturating our concrete roads creating huge potholes. Each time it was from a pothole bending the lip of the rim, each time it was $75 to fix the rim, and each time it was the front passenger rim. Having a dead suspension that bottomed out on every crack in the road didn't help I'm sure. Before that I've had two other flats, both times from nails, this is in only about 6 years of driving.

I'll probably carry around a plug kit and a 12v pump, and keep a spare set of wheels at home with a jack that someone can drive out to me.

Interesting! An '05 BMW didn't have a spare, I would not have guessed that.
Depends on the model and options(spare tires are optional on most models) but yes, many have been without a spare for years. Porsche's(911, boxter, and cayman) started being sold sans spare as well around the same time.

Here's a list AAA put out, there are MANY on here you may not expect.

I haven't had a flat in a very long time - not many pot holes on Southern roads. Many of those cars
that have run flats don't really need a spare. I'd rather have run flats than a spare - easier to
handle when tire needs to be repaired. Haven't heard whether Elios will have run flat option or not.

You might check a post by Rickb from Idaho because he has a fold up scooter that he said according to measurements would fit. You can compare the measurements. :) Z
I use a TravelScoot for airline travel as well as in the big box stores. Smallest mobility scooter on the market. It folds to 33"x15"x10" and weighs under 30#......with lightening speeds of just under 4 mph with a 10 mile range on the battery. Designed by a pilot that needed a compact mobility scooter to fit in his planes small cargo area.......probably smaller than the Elio's. A sweet ride if you have difficulty walking any distance.
