KTBS channel 12 announced, 29 April 2014, that Elio has $100 million in pre sales, quoting Woodrow Wilson, Adminstrative Officer, Caddo Parish, Louisiana, Who spoke to Paul Elio last week. http://www.ktbs.com/story/25383939/elio-motors-update-start-up-vehicle-manufacturer-makes-progress

Also Elio is planning a unique dealership network. Don't think that group will allow factory pick-up, just like they did with detroit cars some years back.

Elio will own all sales rooms. The employees of those salesrooms will be certified Elio employees who are on salary. There are no dealerships. No MSRP. No dickering on price. All this is very clearly stated in the Elio Store plans on their website.

Thank you, Zelio, for the tip, I somehow equated the Elio Store tab on their website with trinkets, T's, etc.

OK, that means I have to travel to an Elio store to buy and take delivery. Apparently no factory pick ups. There probably will be a store in Shreveport/Bossier, where the factory will be and where I live.

It's not unheard of for customers to travel to larger cities/ dealerships in search of a deal in the traditional market, so if there isn't an Elio store in your geographical area there will probably be one within a few hours drive.

Regards,

Actually, Paul Elio is working on plans to allow reservationists to travel to Shreveport to pick up their Elios. More details to follow in the future as they get closer to production time. And I will most likely be getting my Elio in Portland, OR. I would love to take the trip to Shreveport but that will be a very costly adventure so only time will tell if it will happen. I haven't given up on the idea, I simply have put the energy out to the Universe and if it is meant to happen it will. LOL I am so glad I could be of help. I hope you have now discovered that the Elio Motors website is actually full of lots of information. I practically memorized the site the first week after I heard about the Elio. Or if not memorized, at least devoured it. LOL :-) Z

If Elio pays for a hotel night and will transport you to the plant, you'd be out the plane ticket only... Most of the casino/hotels in town will pick you up at the Airport... pack light, and though it'd be a plane fare of about $550 (yes, I just looked it up), it would be an adventure! Of course, you'd have to drive back and THAT might be a little more expensive.

I guess you haven't read my trip plans. LOL It would take more than a free couple of nights in a casino to fly anywhere. However, the same trip by Amtrak is, at this time, $250 and takes 70 hours if there are no delays. All but 2 1/2 of those hours are by train and then the last 2 1/2 are by Amtrak bus. Around here those buses are very luxurious. The the drive home - by way of Pennsylvania to pickup my Mini Mate tent trailer, Toledo, OH to visit #1 son, to Lynnwood, WA to visit #2 son plus other family on the other side of the Sound, then home. Over 3,000 miles and the gas would be the cheapest part of the trip. LOL I know, I will simply have to make sure there is an Elio owner everywhere I go so I can set up my tent trailer in their back yard. LOL :-) Z

Well, that's certainly ambitious, I live in Bossier City, just across the Red River from Shreveport. My wife and I would be happy to host you on the inbound and outbound portions of your journey while conducting business at the factory or Elio Store here.

I-49 is the north bound interstate that connects with I-30 in Texarkana and on to Memphis for points north. Driving the Elio on the Interstate shouldn't be any less safe than a Motorcycle.

You will also be able to sample our world famous fried Catfish (our treat).

Just remember to drive closer to the center line than to the fog line so people can see you from behind when they are passing the eighteen wheeler directly behind you.

Regards,

Pat

They finished I-49 north of Shreveport, didn't they? That would help. My wife's family is in Shreveport/Bossier City and we'll be there next month... I'd be nice to see some sign of progress at the old GM plant...
