I've been listening to Iowa Public Radio (IPR) while catching up on this forum. There's a talk/interview show called "Talk of Iowa" (http://iowapublicradio.org/programs/talk-iowa) and today's show (09/15/2015) was about an independent film called "River to River: Iowa’s Forgotten Highway 6" (tagline: Adventure Begins Where Four Lanes Ends!). Highway 6 is America's second-longest transcontinental highway (I-80 is the longest), and listening to this show really made me want to travel Highway 6 (and I grew up in the area!) I now have it in my head that when I'm finally able to get an Elio and have the engine properly gentled (NOT "broken in" -- it's not a "thing", it's a living entity with feelings and I want it to love me the way I love it), that's the first long-range trip I want to make and see all these historical sites along the way.

I've put a link to the film's web site in the film title above, and if you want to listen to the show while you're in the garage or whatever, you can go to the IPR website tomorrow and download the show.

So, aside from going to the grocery store and back, what's YOUR first major destination?

I hope the car is comfortable enough and quiet enough to do the long range trips I want to take ... .

that is my major concern .... a bad back and a couple of other issues put an end to my motorcycle days ... its ride will determine how much I can use and the types of trips we can take

Just went All-In last night and hope to fly or train to Shreveport to pick mine up and then head east south and north up the coast and then head back to Oregon maybe thru Canada. Was hoping to have done that this year, however I look forward to it when it happens!
You live near me; the drive direct route from the plant to here is 2290 miles, about 37 hours.
Better plan on a one week travel vacation; plus since production is planned for Q4 2016 there is no telling what the weather will be like

I hope the car is comfortable enough and quiet enough to do the long range trips I want to take ... just plain too expensive in the Suby to take off for a week or so.

I'm sure it will be better and easier on me than my Honda 250 Rebel motorcycle.....
