Tesla is a case study of a progressive shell game . They are a failure at selling cars . If their only income was from profits of car sales , they would be losing approx. $300 million per year . They glean most of their money from carbon credits paid by other car companies . Those payments are passed on to car buyers of real cars . And of course , none of this would not be possible without generous donations to the current administration . Tesla exists from money being seized from taxpayers to compensate its customers for buying Tesla. $7500 federal tax credit $2500 in California, $4000 in Illinois, etc
The bluer the state, the more the taxpayers get gouged.

If you follow the link below, you will discover that the whole world is supporting the development of plug-in electric vehicles, because the whole world desperately needs to stop burning fossil fuels.

By the way, tax credits are not money you can get as a refund. You only get the credit against taxes you actually owe. I discovered that when I spent lots of money on great new windows while fixing up this old house- and didn't owe enough taxes for the credit to help.

Also, the U.S. Energy Policy Act of 2005 established a federal income tax credit of up to $3,400 for the purchase of new hybrid vehicles, purchased or placed into service after December 31, 2005, under the Bush administration.

People begrudging Tesla as "progressive" and "politically well connected" ? LOL

Who begrudges BigCarbon, BigAg, BigFinance, the MIC, for-profit college scammers, etc for their annual $10Bs in subsidies, tax breaks, non-enforcement, corporate welfare which have been running for decades?

Is it jealousy because Elio can't finagle its own puny $200M from the hated govt? LOL

Tesla Model 3 To Be Unveiled March 2016

With a new home battery just hitting the market, the Model S P85Dkicking down supercar doors around the world, and a series of drone rockets (nearly) landing on drone ships, Tesla Motors [NSDQ:TSLA] CEO Elon Musk must be feeling pretty good about himself. By the time next March roles around, he’ll be even more smug: that’s when the upcoming Model 3 is expected to make its public debut.

We already knew the Model 3—or Model III, as it’s likely to be badged after a naming-rights fight with Ford canned the planned Model E name—would make its debut in 2016, but we didn’t know the month. Now we do.

The Model 3 is the car that will take the brand beyond the high-performance, luxury status earned by the Model S and its variants and into the mainstream—perhaps even into your driveway. With an expected price of around $35,000 and a range thought to hover around the 200-mile mark, the Model 3 will take the fight to every other carmaker, too.

There's yet another Tesla vehicle waiting in the wings, too—literally, with its falcon doors—in the form of the Model X crossover.

Whether Tesla has what it takes to fight the big brands on their own turf remains to be seen, but given the pluck and pomp of Musk himself, as well as his track record at the helm of Tesla, we aren’t counting him out yet.

Thanks for that insight.

announcing the Model 3 announcement one year in advance, and 2 years in advance of production.

Where have we seen before such advanced announcing? LOL

Toyota and others are still developing fuel cell EVs, saying range and charging time for battery EVs dissuades customers.

The $Bs being poured into battery and fuel cell research will pay off sooner rather than later. The infrastructure for electricity FAST charging and hydrogen refueling are big questions.
